Associate Manager, Accounting, Tax for Thailand

The purpose of this position is to manage the statutory audit, direct & indirect taxes; accounting related in the area of managing functional expenses & OID, working closely with CM, HR & sales operational team as well as SSC plus other cross functional stakeholders;including appropriate internal controls, identifying tax issues (income and transactional taxes), foreign currency, transfer pricing, customs assistance, international audit issues, U.S. tax reporting and local tax provision reviews, managing local country tax compliance (income tax, withholding tax, and indirect tax), etc. This position will leverage 3rd party outsourcing where necessary per guidance from Corporate Tax.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities

Tax Planning

This position will provide guidance on such items like:transfer-pricing, repatriation, currency issues, expatriates, indirect tax issues, etc. with a balanced approach taking into consideration risk factors and impact on the local subsidiary’s effective tax rate.

Review country income and indirect tax legislation, changes in tax rulings and regulations, and court decisions to determine their impact on corporate operations and recommend, where desirable, alternative actions to minimize tax liability. This position will leverage 3rd party outsourcing where necessary per guidance from Corporate Tax.

Prepare GST and WHT filing as well as statutory accounts compliance to local country Statutory requirements ( E.g Central bank, statistic report/survey from local government, etc)

Tax Expenses

Be responsible for monitoring and assisting in the calculation of the local subsidiary’s tax expense calculations as well as U.S. GAAP income tax reporting requirements.

Tax Compliance

Provide guidance, support, and prepare/ review tax returns (income and indirect) for completeness as well as assist with the tax provision to tax return true ups.

Complete corporate tax package, support and assist with legal, tax and custom audits.

Proper documentations and filings for tax inquiries and audit.

If the preparation of income and indirect tax returns is managed by a service provider, this position will complete tax packages and provide necessary financial data requested by such service provider.


Providing ongoing training/support to employees in terms of statutory update such as VAT, WHT & Corporate Tax compliance.

Assists in preparing Accounting Policies & Procedures for the following: -
- Indirect Taxes Process
- Direct Taxes Process
- WHT compliance & process

Lead the local monthly close process and year-end activities, ensuring accuracy & timely recording of functional expenses and Balance Sheet.

Local AP Management for country specific
- Lead the monthly AP close process
- Timely communication on cutoff timing for payment run & closing cut off
- Key point of contact within the country specific for coordination with the SSC on Treasury, A/P and General Ledger topics.
- Review non-inventory vendors with assigned correct priority code
- Work closely with local/cross functional team and ensuring a list of critical payment submitted as per defined timelines.
- Coordination with respective business support/PO creator and ensuring timely settlement of blocked/parked or invoice exception.
-Timely preparation of MPRF for monthly royalty payment or other relevant payment owned by Finance
- Timely preparation of IC billing if required
-Should demonstrate good knowledge of resolving ongoing issues

Planning & Monitoring of functional expenses
- Prepare and coordinate budget/seasonal forecasting, S&OP planning
- Monthly functional review with CM or cost center owner on actual and forecast to have a sense where will be landing functional.
- Highlight risk & opportunity on balance to go.

Support internal and external audit requirements/schedules as well as SOAR testing

Monitoring & timely execute of insurance renewal payment

Preparation and submission of statutory requirement and/or key point of contact with outsourced statutory agency in the cluster members.

Educational qualifications

The educational background for this position requires a degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA/chartered account and/or advanced tax degree preferred.

The ideal candidate should have 2 or more years tax experience at a public accounting firm or large corporation performing similar tax related activities.
