ENGINEER

at our 1 Webster Street, Brantford, Ontario manufacturing plant

This is an on site position

Our internal title at SC Johnson for this role is Associate Manager, Site Engineering. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing small and large projects with the available resources and within budget.

  • Managing project development and implementation together with contractors, vendors, and cross functional teams in strict accordance to local and corporate regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Meeting success criteria for each project following the methodologies of PMI with the aim of achieving operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage various capital projects such as assessing existing capacity of production lines in order to identify areas for improvement or production increase, generate savings, launch new projects, infrastructure growth while ensuring all established success criteria, with special attention to safety and quality, are achieved.

  • Maintain proper control of the budget spending on all projects and adhere to the established budget.

  • Ensure risk assessments are complete and accurate by leading Process Product Impact Analysis and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.

  • Manage the implementation of projects with contractors, vendors and cross functional teams by coordinating the various activities associated with the support of internal and external resources and strict adherence to local and corporate regulations in order to achieve a level of zero accidents.

  • Apply a project implementation structure attached to the SCJ Early Management Work Process, to achieve the success criteria of the project under the principle of zero defects, optimizing resources required for the project.

  • Manage cross functional teams in the development and implementation of projects to ensure all goals are met

  • Proactive contribution to continuous improvement initiatives

  • Support production teams by providing recommendations on Continuous Improvement issues

  • Develop and maintain project schedule and adhere to agreed targets

  • Manage internal and external resources ensuring compliance with procedures, policies and rules and regulations as defined by SCJ and legal and regulatory requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

  • University degree in Engineering essential requirement - Mechanical or Electrical engineering preferred

  • P. Eng

  • Minimum 5 years related experience in Fast Moving Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry

  • Experience in large project management

  • Experience in contractor and vendor management

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • GMP, SAP, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of TPM/ Lean
