Category: Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Research and Development, Supply Chain Job ID: 26909Production Operators will be required to train on, operate and mechanically or systematically intervene with various types of low-tech and high-tech equipment including filling, labeling, packaging and palletizing equipment. The job includes preparing complete and accurate systems records, and an understanding of LEAN principles. Operators will be required to adhere to standard process, and help to determine appropriate actions whenever direct or indirect intervention is required on equipment settings and resolution of equipment malfunctions. Production Operators will be responsible for leading and facilitating problem solving and loss teams. This role also requires employees to build technical capability to clean, inspect and lubricate; identify/fix abnormalities; and perform AM (autonomous maintenance) / PM (planned maintenance) work on equipment; as well as setting centerlines
In addition to the above Production Operators will be required to move throughout various functions within the manufacturing environment, including but not limited to all production lines, material handling/warehouse and processing.
Safety is a primary responsibility for all team members. All employees will be required to follow all safety rules and guidelines and to participate in the Behavioral Based Safety process.
Team members will be responsible to assure quality products are being produced and will utilize various tools, testing and auditing systems to document that the product meets or exceeds the quality standards established in the point of use document.
Team members must be able to work independently as well as with a high level of interaction in both small and large and group situations and will be required to participate constructively in team meetings, decision making and with the performance appraisal process.
Team members must demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn, teach others and to take responsibility and ownership for various aspects of their lines. A strong work ethic and attention to detail is critical for the success of the individual and the team as a whole.
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Working knowledge of Safety, and Health and Environment principles and practices
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Mechanical aptitude
- Employees be available to and willing to work all shifts nights and afternoons and continental shifts as required.
- Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety or complexity
- Demonstrated strength in problem solving and troubleshooting
- Demonstrate basic math and measurement skills
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexibility to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision to meet operational goals
- Proficient in the use and application of MS Office Suite Products (Outlook – Calendar and Email; Word, Excel)
- Employees must be able to demonstrate ability to complete the essential functions of the job and tolerate the ergonomic stressors of the job. This includes lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, pushing, and pulling for up to 8 to 12 hours daily,
- Must be process oriented and demonstrate critical thinking skills
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Technical diploma or degree
- 1-3 years’ experience in Manufacturing
- Experience within a Lean Manufacturing Environment
- Demonstrated ability in problem solving and troubleshooting
- GMP experience an asset
