Based in Cairo, Egypt in one of the biggest manufacturing plants in the region and reporting to the Head of Global Center of Excellence Planning, Global Trade Compliance & Global Intercompany Trade, you will be responsible to ensure achievement of corporate business objectives and operational goals while ensuring compliance with all legal and risk-mitigation requirements. You will be responsible for overseeing the ACT/MENAPT region (Sub Saharan Africa, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Turkey, Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan) and managing a remote team based in different locations.

In this role you will provide trade compliance guidance related to all aspects of Global Trade Compliance (GTC), as well as drive change management within the company, through education and collaboration with cross functional business partners.  To be successful in this role your key responsibilities include trade compliance program oversight, leadership on strategic projects, solution oriented problem solving, and influence programs to support strong supply chain management.


  • Oversee the Global Trade Compliance function within the ACT/MENAPT region
  • Be the SME on regional trade regulations, development and implementation of business processes,  tariff interpretation and classification, valuation, clearance and brokerage, import and export compliance, preferential trade programs, supply chain security programs, licensing, documentation, and reporting
  • Manage team of regional trade compliance leads, analysts and contractors
  • Ensure management and employees are in compliance with the trade-related regulations of regulatory agencies, and that company trade-related policies and procedures are being followed; monitor trade processes, audit, report, and implement corrective action
  • Analyze, monitor and communicate important changes in customs legislation, international trade operations, new trade agreements, and other programs that may impact the business
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk along with corrective action
  • Assist in augmenting an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all relevant employees
  • Represent and respond to inquiries from Customs and other government agencies
  • Collaborate with other company functions for all related import/export matters to ensure compliance
  • Drive efficiencies and adherence to regulations to minimize risk to the organization
  • Lead trade compliance solutions and strategies to issues faced by the businesses, and influence key leadership team members to make strategic changes
  • Conduct & support global and regional trade audit strategies, risk assessments and oversee corrective action implementation plans
  • Analyze and develop compliant practices and processes; measure performance through reporting and/or KPIs
  • Participate in development of strategies on supply chain initiatives to ensure proper/advantageous structuring of global transactions


  • University degree in related field (Business Administration, Economics, International Law)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in similar Global Trade Compliance role preferably with Egyptian or Saudi Arabian markets. Past and current experience in Law firms, FMCG, Chemical or Consultancy companies area considered competitive advantage
  • At least one year of people management experience (local or remote teams)
  • Arabic and English fluent speaker (verbal and written communication)
  • Strong understanding of Customs Regulations in multiple countries within the ACT region, including knowledge of Customs valuation, classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, preferential trade agreements and supply chain security programs
  • Ability to represent the company to government/Customs officials
  • Knowledge of conformity assessment requirements (COCs), specific exporter registration requirements and other types or import/export permits required to clear goods in the region.
  • Must be independent and objective, with an ability to communicate effectively and stay organized under demanding circumstances
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; strong collaboration to build consensus and bring cross functional teams together
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop high performance and remote teams 
  • Implementation of business processes to drive continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • You need to be legally eligible to work in country of application
