Manager, Demand Planning

The Manager, Demand Planning is to lead the demand planning team and ensure demand review process is followed across all businesses. This role will also challenge forecasts to drive continuous improvement and ensure that the escalation process is followed to highlight variances, and potential issues throughout the supply chain and S&OP process.

The Demand Planning Manager is entrusted to develop and maintain professional relationships with local and regional commercial & supply chain partners. This position is charged with making decisions that impact the demand plan and communicating those decisions to stakeholders. The role expands to include contributing to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives. This person is a well-rounded individual who encompasses people management, communication, and leadership skills and who can quickly identify deviations from expected results and other disruptions and is able to promptly resolve issues.

The Demand Planning Manager is also responsible for category reviews with marketing teams and providing demand planning input to Step 5 management meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create regional demand planning vision and roadmap which is aligned with global demand planning strategy

  • Lead, coach and develop demand planning leads to evolve demand planning, supply chain, and overall business skills and knowledge

  • Collaborate with Supply Planning Managers in the region and Global COE Managers to align on best practice and ways of working in relation to projects, new initiatives, system enhancements

  • Ensure demand forecast is shared in level of detail and timing required by internal customers and supply chain partners with documented assumptions, communicating forecast confidence, and tracking risks and opportunities.

  • Work with supply chain partners to identify and address unbalances between demand plan and supply availability and related implications on the demand plan

  • Measure, analyze, and communicate key process metrics and monitor adherence to key performance indicators, while driving continuous improvement

  • Facilitate Step 2 of the S&OP cycle, consolidating forecast changes from customers and the commercial teams to review with senior leadership in supply chain and the business

  • Attend and drive demand planning participation in weekly S&OE planning meetings, reviewing key demand call out’s for the month, forecast changes, and potential impacts to the supply chain

  • Drive yearly budget process from demand planning standpoint, delivering a complete demand plan for a rolling 18 months, inclusive of seasonal demands, statistical baseline forecast and customer promotions

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Administration or military experience considered in lieu of education requirement

  • Minimum of 7 years of Supply Chain or Business experience

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Advanced Degree preferred

  • Experience working in the CPG industry

  • 3 to 4 years of people management experience leading multilevel teams

  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated results and working in a team-based, cross functional environment, preferably experience with the standard S&OP processes

  • Strong leadership with proven ability to drive action and influence decision making at all levels of the organization

  • Strong influencing and communication skills, with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work within high-performing virtual teams in highly collaborative environments

  • Knowledge of finance, sales, marketing and R&D functions

Job Requirements:

  • Primary work location is the SCJ Chicago office

  • Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees
