Accounting Analyst - Fixed Term Contract

You will be part of our finance shared service centre providing financial support to our offices in various countries across EMEA.

The purpose of the role is to support the Regional Supply Chain & Commercial Finance teams in the preparation and validation of accurate Financial Data.  You will be accountable for providing financial analysis, performing month end close activities, resolving queries and providing strong business partnering to the local country whilst liaising across multiple functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performing activities including, but not limited to:

  • Ensure that financial statements are kept in accordance with US and local GAAP and all appropriate records are maintained
  • Performing month end tasks within 2.5 day close period
  • Performing analysis of Deals balance sheet account to identify accounting discrepancies and provide input on resolutions
  • Regional Inventory Reporting
  • Ensure that all internal controls, financial policies and procedures established by GIA are being followed
  • Act as liaison between internal/external auditors and business partners during reviews and audits
  • Responsible for ensuring all tasks are being completed accurately within deadlines
  • Resolving country queries
  • Developing customer relationships with internal customers (purchasers and finance personnel)
  • Developing the necessary business acumen to support both the business and SSC colleagues as required
  • Ensuring the appropriate controls are operational in order to maintain the quality and integrity of financial information, ensuring consistency of process across Europe
  • Identify process improvements with emphasis on streamlining and/or improving controls within accounting through using LEAN methodology

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Graduate caliber ideally in business/finance or equivalent
  • Experience of monthly closing, balance sheets, month end reporting, accruals and reconciliation, able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy.
  • Experience of SAP and Business Warehouse or similar ERP system
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Accounting department experience in a medium to large size company
  • Awareness of internal controls and SOX
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive in anticipating problems when they occur
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, able to self-evaluate work and create culture of continuous improvement
  • Able to work independently and with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with colleagues of various levels and disciplines within a cross-functional organisation
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to quickly develop relationship with others

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Previous Experience of working within a Product Supply or Commercial role
  • Be a self-starter who is flexible in their approach to tasks / projects
