Registration & Regulatory Compliance, Associate Manager

This is an exciting new role within the existing R & R team that will focus on SC Johnson Professional products with overall accountability for securing and maintaining products registrations; and for negotiating with regulatory authorities both on specific projects and on larger areas of policy to achieve results favourable to SCJ. You will be expected to participate with both internal and external stakeholders as well as cross-functional teams mostly in marketing to identify and recommend optimal registration strategies for assigned projects/products

This is a key technical role in providing analysis, advice, and expertise in registration related matters in support of our immediate and strategic Professional Brands business plans in the region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly accountable for product registration in the region.
  • Understands and applies relevant GSARA processes.
  • Identify and interpret applicable laws, regulations and related performance standards that apply to products, and their distribution.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the region working closely with the marketing teams and local compliance.
  • Understand and apply label requirements for EU and locally sold goods.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging issues and changing regulatory landscapes, make recommendations on portfolio management for products under accountability.
  • Maintains company databases and compliance related IT tools; PLM, Trackwise, etc.
  • Responds to requests from project teams to provide critical input into regulatory needs for product launches.
  • Author required reports/submissions that are mandated by authorities to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Ability to manage local consultants that would help in specialized regulatory research.
  • Analyse and report to management change in regulations or impending new regulations
  • When appropriate, serve on government or industry task forces as a representative of the company in partnership with Government Relations. Seek to favourably impact regulatory requirements which will benefit the SCJ business.
  • Maintains current, accurate, and accessible information concerning the registration status and priorities of pesticide products and provides useful advice as requested by staff and departmental management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong work experience in compliance-related field with progressively broadening responsibilities
  • Experience in multi-national consumer product, chemical, pharmaceutical and/or agricultural companies, or government agency or consulting firm working with such companies
  • Commanding knowledge of national and EU regulations, including chemical inventories and product compliance
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in a related Scientific field (ideally chemical engineering) is strongly preferred
  • Ability to successfully navigate in a complex, evolving, global environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to orchestrate effective meetings and written materials prompting the appropriate discussions and accountability.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Project
  • Experience to interface, lead and build relationships with multiple levels and across functions internal and external to the corporation
  • Ability to influence and create an environment of high-performance teams.
