Associate Manager, Redundancy Elimination - Plastics

Summary:

Represents the Plastics portfolio in support of the Redundancy Elimination (Red-El) initiative.  The scope of this role is working directly with SCJ Red-El teams, suppliers and Regional Operations as the Procurement Red-El representative.  This position requires strong personal initiative to identify opportunities and achieve aggressive business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver results in line with Global Procurement Red-El objectives including Cost, Cash, Redundancy Elimination, and Supplier Reduction.
  • Assist the portfolio Director/Manager to develop/execute portfolio strategy in support of Procurement’s functional goals.
  • Works closely with the portfolio Director/Manager and cross functional Redundancy Elimination teams.  Scope includes:
    • Catalogue Development: Optimize caps and bottles catalogue to meet technical needs while achieving consolidation and cost reduction objectives.
    • Sourcing: Develop a thorough understanding of the global and regional supply landscape to ensure Red-El teams are choosing optimal components and suppliers. Assist in contract negotiations to ensure commercial agreements deliver business requirements.
    • Supplier Selection: Ensure appropriate assessment of supplier technical capability, capacity, and cost. Ensure cross category spend synergies are fully leveraged.
    • Component selection: ensure optimal component selection including considerations such as lead times, MOQ’s, capacity, regional restrictions and cost
    • Costing: provide delivered proxy costs / cost estimates to project teams based on volumes and delivery locations to SCJ / contract manufacturer locations

  • Database construction of plastics portfolio to include both Contract Manufacturer and SCJ locations.
  • Travelling might be required according to business needs

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • BS Engineering, Science or Business with 5+ years of business experience or advance degree and 3+ years of business experience.
  • Must be capable of assessing and effecting decisions that support Redundancy Elimination team goals. 
  • Leadership, sound judgment, and problem solving skills are essential.  Must have a proven track record of achieving results in a cross functional environment.
  • Well-developed business and financial acumen and a keen understanding of how business and sourcing decisions impact financials (P&L, Balance Sheet). This includes a good understanding of financial cost drivers in the end to end supply chain.
  • Strong communication and networking skills, strategic thinking, leadership, influencing skills, and problem solving.
  • Track record of identifying, developing and executing change / process improvement initiatives, including excellent project management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate and formally present across all levels both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to lead and build relationships across functions at all levels, within SCJ and externally.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Technical knowledge of plastics is preferred
  •  Purchasing or Supply Chain certifications
  • MBA
  • Negotiation experience and knowledge of industry, economic and cost factors that drive
  • Experience leading the procurement Request for Proposal (RFP) process
  • Supplier management experience
