As the Associate, Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for contributing to the technical development of new or revised packaging materials and products on global brands. You will have the opportunity to support the development of new products/packages, line extensions, and technology advancements that expand the organizational and market needs for the assigned portion of our business.
You will also participate on cross-functional teams and execute routine, technical laboratory or shop activities supporting a single project or limited support projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Apply new and existing packaging technologies towards the development of innovative new products and the enhancement of existing products
Create packaging that consumers find appealing and easy to use, and allows SC Johnson to “win at the store shelf”
Research materials and components for the development of cost-effective packaging to meet the needs of the consumer. Willing to gain knowledge in consumer insights and technical areas as necessary
Contribute to the implementation of the company’s PCR (post-consumer recycled content) goals
Stay in the forefront of packaging innovations and trends so that new technologies can be leveraged in new products and new product packaging
Develop/update packaging specifications and bills of materials
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in packaging or other relevant engineering disciplines
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Knowledge in multiple packaging disciplines: dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding technologies, and product/environment compatibility
Knowledge of consumer testing techniques and execution of appropriate studies to evaluate product performance during use
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
Strong communication, teamwork skills, and problem-solving abilities
Design of Experiments and understanding of statistical processes
Aerosol technology; filling, labeling, testing, and components
Plastics technologies; thermoforming, blow molding, injection molding, dispensing systems
CAD Experience; emphasis on 2D/Artios knowledge
Ability to lift 10 – 40 pounds
Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees
