EHS Associate Manager (Process Safety Management)
Racine, Wisconsin Job ID 19876 ApplyThe EHS Associate Manager is the site’s subject matter expert and manages development, implementation and maintenance of processes to support compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) standard and EPA’s Risk Management Plan (RMP) rule. You will also provide technical leadership for the site’s emergency response and contractor safety management programs. While this role involves direct and participative action in PSM, RMP, emergency response and contractor safety activities, success is dependent on developing and supporting “champions” within the site’s operations, maintenance and engineering teams versus acting as the sole individual responsible for these programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the EHS representative for management of change reviews to evaluate and control potential health and safety hazards and environmental impacts associated with business activity changes involving the site’s PSM/RMP covered chemical processes
Supports PSM/RMP metric generation, including interpretation of data, and seeks to identify opportunities for improving process safety performance
Collaborates with the site’s engineering and maintenance teams to ensure that required inspections, testing, preventive maintenance activities associated with the site’s high-hazard chemical processes are defined and appropriately documented
Coordinates completion of Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and periodic PHA revalidations for the site’s covered processes
Manages deployment and validation of corrective and preventive actions associated with PSM/RMP safety compliance audits
Manages development and maintenance of employee training processes associated with PSM/RMP covered processes to ensure that required training is defined, addresses required content and is tracked to completion
Manages incident investigations associated with the uncontrolled release of hazardous substances and partners with site leadership to confirm that improvement opportunities are effectively deployed across the site in a timely manner
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline or military experience considered in lieu of education requirement
5+ years of leadership responsibility in a manufacturing organization, which includes experience managing activities associated with OSHA’s PSM standard and/or EPA’s RMP rule
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline preferred
Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
Experience leading teams / managing others
Demonstrated project management experience to enable prioritization and management of multiple projects to completion
Ability to effectively interact with others, establishing open, candid and trusting relationships to create win/win outcomes
Effective verbal and written communication skills that permit the clear and concise transfer of information to stakeholders
Job Requirements:
Full-time core office hours with expectation to be available for occasional nights/weekends
Up to 10% domestic travel may be required
Work in an office environment approximately 50% of time
Work in a manufacturing environment approximately 50% of time
