Global IT Procurement Associate Manager

The Global IT Procurement Associate Manager is a key role in the Procurement Portfolio in bringing a strategic advantage supporting the delivery of Cost, Cash, Innovation, Risk Mitigation and other value drivers.  This role includes data gathering and analysis for projects, contract management, supply risk management, commercial negotiations, strategic analysis and other special project requirements. 

BPT Procurement is the IT, IS and Data Management function for SC Johnson. As we transform the procurement support for this function, we will continue to focus our efforts on mitigating the greatest risks and driving the greatest value and quality impact for the enterprise.  The Associate Manager, Global Procurement - BPT role will support the Manager, Global Procurement – BPT to achieve this vision.  Together, this team of two will manage the end-to-end strategic sourcing and procurement process for BPT categories, representing approximately $130MM in annual expenditures, while influencing and managing key stakeholders.

This role is responsible for administration and will be involved in sourcing and procurement execution, supplier relationship management, as well as internal customer relationship management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Together with the Manager, Global Procurement - BPT, define and deploy the BPT Procurement Strategy to establish supply sources, maximize current and future market conditions, and define contingency planning to ensure critical supply needs are met

  • Follow and provide support for the end-to-end process with commitment to procurement strategies throughout planning and execution

  • Establish and maintain a portfolio of strategic agreements and key supplier relationships to manage risk to SCJ in procuring category group materials and services (i.e., pricing, supply, quality, etc.)

  • Evaluate performance metrics for category and track and report on performance metrics

  • Drive engagement of procurement with the business teams to optimize value creation and delivery to SCJ

  • Support the Manager, Global Procurement – BPT as a subject matter expert to drive external and marketplace knowledge of the latest category dynamics, trends and best practices

  • Provide thought leadership, innovative ideas, and support for the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities

  • Oversee low to medium level risk management activities for respective category areas

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)

  • Engage in and drive mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers

  • Participate in joint business planning with supply base

  • Analyze metrics and evaluate approaches to meet business objectives and benefit targets

  • Participate in the quarterly business and performance review process for key suppliers

  • Work to help resolve issues where necessary (supplier quality and service)

Sourcing & Procurement Management

  • Lead IT/IS procurement activities (category and project), including strategic sourcing, supplier management and contract management

  • Facilitate expedient and compliant implementation of new contracts throughout the organization that bring cost savings, cash (working capital) improvements, avoidance of inflation and mitigate risk

  • Lead sourcing initiatives, including spend analytics to identify savings opportunities, total cost of ownership model development, category strategy development, fact-based negotiation strategy development & execution, supplier evaluation and selection, and category implementation

  • Build strong supplier relationships and participate in effectively managing category supply base, negotiations, and supplier selection

  • Lead analysis of vendor and internal performance against contracts, industry benchmarks, and previous baselines on a quarterly basis.  Assist in the development of reports for executive management

  • Lead and manage the preparation and evaluation of RFIs and RFPs

  • Participate in the development, analysis, negotiation, and roll-out of new vendor contracts and processes to all users

Customer Relationship Management

  • Drive efforts to understand internal customer needs and summarize business requirements as input into enterprise-wide sourcing efforts

  • Support the requirements for current, new and changing corporate activities

  • Engage internal partners to communicate solution recommendations based on category, market and sourcing information

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, IT, Supply Chain or relevant military experience considered in lieu of degree requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in procurement/strategic sourcing

  • 1+ year in IT/IS procurement

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies

  • Masters/MBA preferred

  • Experience with modern procurement processes, systems and tools

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Experience with cross-functional and global teams

  • Skilled in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving contractual risk

  • Strategic, analytical and conceptual skills experience

  • Passion for procurement and creative solutioning

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and decisiveness; goal oriented; sees opportunity to influence events rather than passively accepting outcomes

  • Strong communicator and influencer; good interpersonal skills. Unafraid to engage audiences ranging from team members to leaders

  • Financially savvy; a critical thinker

  • Experienced in planning, managing, and driving progression for multiple projects simultaneously

  • A team player comfortable with ambiguity and working in a matrix environment

Job Requirements

  • Up to 15% travel

  • Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees
