Manager – Enterprise Architect

The Manager - Enterprise Architect is a meticulous professional responsible for aligning technical investments with business priorities and leading the overall Enterprise Architecture strategy for the business. The successful candidate will be a design expert who is delivery oriented and understands how large multi-national and global corporate structures can leverage technology to achieve the best in-class market positioning.  The candidate should have grown up through the technology ranks and should have participated in technology service life cycles starting from requirements analysis through design, development, operations and strategy.  The candidate should be an excellent communicator who has the

necessary soft skills to interact with non-technical stakeholders in a global corporate setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the extended architecture organization to design and develop cross-functional enterprise level conceptual designs and architecture design descriptions
  • Supporting architecture governance processes, integrating into financial, project, and procurement governance processes.
  • Collect and report architecture governance metrics to ensure compliance with architecture processes and technology standards.
  • Maintain and enhance the enterprise architecture repository.
  • Drive strategy and insight into the frameworks such as SDLC and help remediate known pitfalls.
  • Collaborate with Lead Technical Domain architects (applications, data, infrastructure, and security) to define and publish technology standards, reference architectures, current state and future state architectures.
  • Chair and/or serve as a panel member for design assurance reviews of projects.
  • Schedule, track, and facilitate architecture review meetings. This includes initial architecture assessments, design reviews, vendor evaluations, reference architecture reviews, and roadmaps/strategy reviews.
  • Lead in the cross functional development of high-level IT estimates for strategic projects.
  • Represent enterprise architecture in Change Control Board and Portfolio Management meetings
  • Continuous process improvement activities to further develop Enterprise Architecture and Governance capabilities

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or related degree or military experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • 10+ years of experience in designing enterprise quality solutions for global/multi-national organizations
  • 5+ years of experience in hands on coding/development

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in the development of cloud architecture and patterns
  • Good understanding of security best practices
  • Ability to understand the business requirements and converting them into solution designs
  • Knowledge in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints
  • Knowledge of TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL, and other common frameworks
  • Experience with value chain mapping and insight into computerization of the value chain
  • Experience in design assurance, quality assurance, and testing methodologies
  • Should have hands-on expertise in some of the following technologies: SAP, NetSuite, Workday, Workflows, Integration/EAI/ESB technologies, DevOps, and various development languages and database technologies
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and pragmatic approach to delivering software that optimizes architecture activities across company needs, business constraints and technological realities
