Power Plant Technician, T3, 3rd Shift (10p-6a)

This position supports Environmental Operations and Waxdale Central Services by performing daily Power Plant assignments. The candidate for this position will work with the Power Plant team and engineers in running the turbine and Power plant in the safest, most efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possess a solid understanding of Power Plant and Turbine Operations
  • Demonstrated mechanical equipment aptitude.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to accurately follow detailed procedures, maintain a neat and orderly work environment, accurate databases input and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Maintain an organized work environment complying with ISO9000 and 14001 standards.
  • Flexibility to manage a variety of assignments against stressful deadlines.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter dedicated to meeting established objectives.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Basic understanding of environmental laws
  • Perform chemical water analysis.
  • Perform applicable PMs and equipment repairs per approved process.
  • Manage Power Plant contractors and providing assistance as needed.
  • Ability to work alone while maintaining Power Plant operation.
  • Must pass Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response”. Hazwoper training course

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • High school Diploma or Equivalent
  • High Pressure Stationary engineers license
  • 5 years’ experience required.
  • Basic understanding of Turbine operations
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Good mechanical ability Strong mathematical skills and the ability to apply these skills in problem solving.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of Environmental rules
  • Perform the above requirements in conformance with environmental management systems.
  • Ability to learn from and build the capability of team members.
  • Proven ability to make sound judgments to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Solid computer skills
    • Microsoft office suite experience
    • Computer automation experience in monitoring power plant processes
