Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Internship - Summer 2020

Join our dynamic and experienced Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Compliance Team this summer at SC Johnson’s largest chemical manufacturing facility located in Racine, Wisconsin! With a combined 200+ years of professional SHE experience, our team will mentor and support your learning through various activities and projects. The SHE Intern will have the ability to work on projects that support the initiatives of the SHE Department to ensure the safety of SCJ employees, the community and the environment by reducing hazards and improving systems to demonstrate compliance as well as reviewing practices and procedures for improvements to increase sustainability and reduce overall waste. Our facility offers opportunities to explore various work environments and SHE disciplines including:

  • Operator - Machine Safety
  • Construction/Demolition
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Bulk and laboratory chemical handling
  • On-site wastewater, recycling, and sustainable energy production
  • On-site Fire Brigade

This is a 12-week internship which will begin on May 18, 2020 and run through August 7, 2020 in Racine, WI.


•Current student in a Bachelor’s degree program with a major preferably in Occupational Safety, Health or Environmental Sciences.  Graduation date within 1 year, strongly preferred.  

•GPA of 3.5 and above preferred

•Strong analytical, technical skills

•Goal oriented, displays initiative

•Demonstrated leadership experience

•Excellent oral, written & communication/presentation aptitude

•Microsoft Excel proficiency

•Problem solving, critical thinking capabilities


•Intellectually curious

•Time management & organizational skills
