As the Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineer, you will perform the electrical device engineering activities associated with global new product development in Air Care. You will help identify and translate consumer needs into the design of products to fill gaps and improve the user experience.
This role will perform tasks independently and in cross-functional teams while executing multiple projects simultaneously, receiving direction in goal-oriented terms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Engineer components, assemblies, and/or processes as part of the design of products and the way they are manufactured
Coordinate with the efforts of the larger cross functional team to achieve project objective
Identify cost savings/efficiency changes to delivery systems currently in market or in development
Identify next generational materials and technologies that would benefit the business and sustainability goals
Qualify components, devices, and systems through lab testing, line trials, and consumer testing
Use root cause analysis to identify component, device, and system issues and recommend needed changes
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the development and commercialization of consumer product goods or a master’s degree with 2 years of this experience
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Experience working with design and manufacturing partners outside the organization
Experience working with injection molding, blow molding, electromechanical parts and assemblies, and plastic component sub assembly
Experience with development methods and tools, such as DOEs, DMAIC, LEAN Six-Sigma Green/Black Belt to solve technical problems and deliver claims
Technical breadth and depth in product development and commercialization, global products experience, technology trends, competitive and IP landscape, systems, analytical test methods, sustainability, and leveraging external technologies
Electrical device experience
Self-driven, results-oriented with a clear focus on high quality and timely delivery of objectives
Natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance and is reliable, tolerant, determined, and an empathic communicator
CAD experience (SolidWorks or ProE preferred)
Experience dealing with tolerance analysis in product components and assemblies.
Experience with FMEA process
