The Tier 2 Senior Associate, Payroll Tax is responsible for all compliance matters related to payroll taxes, tax updates and year-end reporting for the North American region (US, Canada and Puerto Rico). This position will also be responsible for managing tax activity for active and retired employees; support payroll processing and process improvement projects, as well as provide employee and retiree support for any payroll, benefit and retirement inquiries. This position will work closely with several cross-functional business partners to ensure payroll taxes are reported timely and accurately in the most efficient way possible in multiple states and provinces. This position will be a hands-on strategic thinker and team player with demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvement opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with our tax providers to ensure all of our tax payments for federal, state, provincial and local agencies have been processed and paid
Coordinate all year-end activities including the generation of W2’s and W2C’s
Work with our payroll provider to ensure all tax updates are tested and applied to the payroll system correctly
In depth knowledge of government regulations and payroll tax requirements for the US, Puerto Rico and Canada
Maintain registrations and closure of tax accounts with varying agencies
Work with our tax providers to investigate and resolve tax notices in a timely manner to minimize the risk of potential interest and penalties
As part of the MyHR Delivery Center, ensure to address employees’ concerns and questions in a timely manner
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
5+ years minimum experience with payroll processes (preferably with US, Puerto Rico and Canada payroll)
3+ years minimum experience with payroll tax (preferably with US, Puerto Rico and Canada payroll tax)
Knowledge of tax laws and multi-state payroll processing and tax regulations
Experience with multi-state tax processing and filing
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Working knowledge of US, Puerto Rico and Canada payroll practices/policies/taxes
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to lead and motivate others without formal authority
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
Organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Strong PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office

Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality
Strong communication skills and customer service experience
Experience with Ultimate, Workday and ADP Workforce Now is preferred
