As a Technician, Entomology, you will be part of the Research, Development, & Engineering team in the Global Pest Control Division. You will be part of a team responsible for rearing high-quality insects in support of the entomology research function. Your main responsibility will be to execute daily rearing activities, in a laboratory setting, in conformance with established protocols & standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Rearing of mosquitoes, house flies, ants, cockroaches and other household pests
Measure, document, and track insectary operational performance
Support development and delivery of internal training and external communication to key customers
Assist the insectary lead in maintaining and enhancing facility operations
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Associate degree in urban entomology or other related science and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting OR a high school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
Ability to write reports and recommendations based on experimental results.
Basic understanding of experimental error and laboratory safety.
Must be able to evaluate visual criteria accurately and consistently against a standard scale.
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Good initiative and strong sense of urgency.
Rigorous precision in following standard protocols in adherence with a tightly defined schedule
Ability to work closely with others as part of a team
Ability and willingness to work partial shifts on weekends and holidays, on a rotating schedule
Experience in the operation of an insectary
Knowledge and understanding of mosquito, house fly, ant, and cockroach biology
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Interest in continuous self-development
