Technician,Entomology

As a Technician, Entomology, you will be part of the Research, Development, & Engineering team in the Global Pest Control Division. You will be part of a team responsible for rearing high-quality insects in support of the entomology research function. Your main responsibility will be to execute daily rearing activities, in a laboratory setting, in conformance with established protocols & standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Rearing of mosquitoes, house flies, ants, cockroaches and other household pests

  • Measure, document, and track insectary operational performance

  • Support development and delivery of internal training and external communication to key customers

  • Assist the insectary lead in maintaining and enhancing facility operations

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Associate degree in urban entomology or other related science and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting OR a high school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate accurately and concisely.

  • Ability to write reports and recommendations based on experimental results.

  • Basic understanding of experimental error and laboratory safety.  

  • Must be able to evaluate visual criteria accurately and consistently against a standard scale.

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Good initiative and strong sense of urgency.

  • Rigorous precision in following standard protocols in adherence with a tightly defined schedule

  • Ability to work closely with others as part of a team

  • Ability and willingness to work partial shifts on weekends and holidays, on a rotating schedule

  • Experience in the operation of an insectary

  • Knowledge and understanding of mosquito, house fly, ant, and cockroach biology

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Interest in continuous self-development
