Associate Manager, Procurement

Based in Rosslyn, South Africa you will manage packaging direct material suppliers and their spend for South Africa, Kenya & Nigeria. As part of the Global Procurement Organization and reporting to the Manager Procurement Operations SSA, you will have the responsibility for the purchasing function for a major group of packaging materials / equipment to ensure an uninterrupted supply at optimum costs and within the policies and guidelines as set by management.


  • Investigating available and existing suppliers that comply with the company’s procurement procedures, with specific emphasis to BBEEE where applicable.

  • Negotiating with suppliers to achieve the best value for money

  • Supporting local users in the requisition process, handling and resolution of business and suppliers enquiries

  • Obtaining quotations where contracts are not in place

  • Conducting value analysis studies by reporting on market trends and industry standards, recommending specifications and assessing quality and reliability of products, services and suppliers

  • Supporting Global portfolio on bid & tender processes

  • Managing the total cost of ownership process

  • Support new product development function by sourcing of products and quotes

  • Conduct Needs Analysis, work with internal stakeholders to identify scope and execute special projects resulting in measurable value to the corporation.

  • Driving BBEEE compliance with all stakeholders.

  • Managing suppliers and vendor applications.

  • Performing supplier evaluation and measuring supplier performance on quality, availability and lead-times, order completeness and accuracy – SRM Program

  • Ensures prices and other SAP parameters are well maintained (including price maintenance for global portfolio materials


  • Minimum 5 years of proven working experience in Purchasing and Supply Chain within FMCG Industry background

  • SAP experience / knowledge is mandatory

  • Working Knowledge of Accounts Payable process – PtP Process

  • Excellent knowledge of procurement methods and procedures

  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • A valid driver’s license

  • Strong Communication, Organizational and Operational Skills

  • Highly presentable

  • Strong Attention to detail

  • Strong negotiating, analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • You need to be legally eligible to work in country of application.
