TEAMS EXPLORE ON RETAIL SAFARI

Our teams live and love our brands method®, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day®, babyganics® and Ecover®. Through our value of being constantly curious, we embrace continuous learning about what makes our brands stand out amongst competitors and across our industry.

One way we enable SCJ Lifestyle Brand teams to connect to the experiences of our consumers is through our Retail Safari program. Throughout the year and during a key offsite event in the spring, team members participate in challenges where they engage as shoppers and share learnings that apply to our brands and business.

SHOPPING IS LEARNING

By getting out into stores and deep-diving digital environments to experience our brands as our consumers do, we develop hands-on insights in a collaborative way. We create a shared experience between members of various functions, finding unique and fun ways to engage as shoppers and consumers. 

Through the events, a light is shined on the important connections between brands and those who purchase our products in a dynamic environment. Learnings are documented and shared with the business to consider as new ideas, strategy adjustments and more.

DIGITAL EXPLORATION

As we know many parts of a shopper’s journey are now done online, part of the challenge takes place behind a screen or through a scroll on mobile. Teams explore email tactics, social media content, digital advertisements, holiday-related campaigns and more to round out the insight collection challenges.

Digital components of the Retail Safari program enable us to collect key learnings around holiday shopping seasons such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday/week and even retail-specific shopping days.

WILDLY FRIENDLY COMPETITION

Teams get into the spirit of Retail Safari through costumes, creative team names and more. Points are awarded for completing challenges and bringing unique insights back as part of the efforts, resulting in celebratory announcements for winning teams in company-wide meetings.
