As an R & D Manager you will be responsible to lead and develop the R&D team to drive innovation, deliver new product developments (NPD), and manage project prioritization, while ensuring alignment with global, regional, and cluster objectives. This role will be responsible for managing cross-functional collaboration, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and overseeing the department’s budget. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to balance project execution with people development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- People Management - Develop those in reporting organization through training opportunities, coaching, and performance management practices including conducting annual performance reviews, management succession, and development activities.
- Training and Capability Build -- Need to provide guidance and some level of training for project managers and engineers in your team to build capability & tool to execute projects.
- Relationship with Cluster Business – Build a robust relationship with Cluster MANCOM through a structured meeting cadence and communication. This is to ensure alignment with Global, Regional and Cluster objectives to meet required goals.
- Project Management and Prioritization - Develop and execute projects for New Product Development (NPD), cost-savings, project prioritization, and other technically driven product changes; deliver commitments with budget and aligned timing expectations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Drive alignment and enrollment to a course of action among key cross-functional peers in R&D, Commercial Marketing, Finance, GSARA, Quality and Supply Chain
- Be part of problem-solving processes as required by the team
- Ensure the information flow between all PCM/R&D areas and other relevant stakeholders
- Budget Management - Monitor local PCM budget, by controlling budget evolution (incl. travels, lab equipment procures), identifying any deviations between the real and the foreseen and taking corrective measures.
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Bachelors in Technical or Engineering - packaging engineering, chemical engineering, or other relevant disciplines
- Minimum 7 to 8 years’ experience in new product development and commercialization of consumer product goods, or project management, preferably from Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry
- Experience in strategic product development which include set technical, product strategy, new product roadmap
- At least 4 -5 years in people management and leadership skills to lead a team
- Project Management and/or NPD development experience would be added advantage
