Sr. Analyst, Global Trade Compliance

Summary:

The Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Senior Analyst is the subject matter expert for specific global processes and all aspects related to trade compliance.  This person will develop, Dangerous Goods governance and bookkeeping, implement, and audit processes, have strong working knowledge of product HTS classification, valuation, country of origin requirements, and risk assessments.  The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the organization security and integrity exposure with customs and other authority, meets the requirements for importing/exporting goods in the region. Handling daily operational support in terms of HS code, Free Trade Agreements, custom procedures enquiries and correspondence within cross functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance and oversight on interpretation of complex regulations and requirements  
  • Ensure that correct proof of origin is archived to support preferential trade agreements
  • Interface and provide direction to internal and external parties
  • Populating SAP system with correct data   
  • Assist Regional Manager in classifying products’ HTS codes
  • Compile records to substantiate country of origin claims
  • Audit import/export Customs documentation to ensure accuracy of records and corrective action
  • Evaluates adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls by reviewing examination and analysis of records, reports, operating practices and documentation
  • Assist in execution of trade compliance processes as required
  • Monitor and advise logistics team on export/import practices in the region
  • Proactively communicate regularly with the import brokers/freight forwarders on open issues
  • Escalate serious or significant discrepancies immediately to the attention of the Manager
  • Dangerous Goods (DG) transport classification and process
  • Applies safety awareness on DG management program
  • Other GTC related responsibilities as needed

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably within Business, Supply Chain, or International Studies, Custom Broker, or any related degree.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the same function
  • Working knowledge of SAP (Intermediate)
  • Proven trade compliance experience with regional knowledge gained in practice. 
  • Knowledge of HTS, INCOTERMs, country of origin rules, import/export laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of the complexities of moving products across borders: international freight, duties, custom brokers, freight forwarders, and ocean/air carriers
  • Self-starter and attention to detail with ability to work independently.
  • Creatively seeking opportunities to improve processes
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to execute professionally
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to operate efficiently under continuous change
  • Analytical skills necessary but what is essential is data interpretation.
  • Good team player with multitasking skills.
  • Good presentation skills.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Mandarin will be an additional advantage due to China Liaison

Job Requirements:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work Hours: 8:00AM or 9:00AM to 5:00PM or 6:00PM (Mondays to Fridays)
  • Overtime might be required depending on the critical deliverables
