ABOUT THE ROLE

As an essential member of the high-performing Global Corporate Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability team, the Associate Manager of Media Relations and Issues Management should be a media pro and a true communications utility player. Reporting to the Global Media Relations and Issues Management Director, the person in this role will quickly craft creative press releases, work with a wide variety of media, and assist team members in tracking emerging issues. The ideal candidate should be an excellent copywriter and editor. We’re looking for a team player who can hit the ground running and is excited to learn about consumer products, sustainability, and health.

This is an onsite role in Racine, WI.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Craft creative press releases highlighting a wide range of corporate initiatives.

  • Build relationships with targeted media outlets.

  • Track media stories and larger media trends.

  • Assist team with emerging issues.

  • Act as the team copywriter and editor for a range of external communications. 

  • Brainstorm and create concepts to best tell SC Johnson’s corporate story.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or Related Field

  • 5+ years of communication experience in Corporate, Government, PR Agency, or Related Field

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Excellent relationship builder with internal and external partners.

  • Understanding of the media relations landscape.

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.

  • Ability to work quickly and on deadlines.

  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Consumer packaged goods and/or sustainability experience or interest is a bonus. 

  • Strong grasp of programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time 1st Shift

  • Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees

  • This position is not eligible for relocation
