Associate Manager, Chemical Engineer (Processing)

As the Associate Manager, Chemical Engineering (Processing) you will provide leadership and direction to the chemical processing operators and will be responsible for performance with respect to safety, quality, on-time delivery, budget management and productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for defined business objectives and people management responsibilities

  • Ability to make tough decisions and convert business strategy into action

  • Meeting plant safety, quality, cost, productivity & environmental goals

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance for areas managed

  • Key contact and technical leader for Processing emergency issues as they arise across shifts

  • Collaboratively work with other functions (i.e. maintenance, production lines, engineering, IS, security, medical center, MHG, SHE, QA, etc.) as needed to coordinate activities and conduct issue resolution

  • Interpret and ensure compliance of all company and HR policies and procedures

  • Assist in the resolution of employee conflict and discipline issues as they occur while striving for consistency and fairness

  • Foster continuous improvement activities that support the department’s goals while building the team’s capabilities

  • Ability to coordinate and deliver projects by leading internal and external resources

  • Participate in teams that resolve tactical and strategic operational issues

  • Oversee and ensure the training and development of the team

  • Develop effective communication channels with necessary personnel to keep them apprised of shift related activities and team metrics

  • Creatively work to meet customer needs in a highly effective manner

  • Positively influence and manage change

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field or relevant military experience considered in lieu of degree requirement

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Qualified candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Chemical Processing/Compounding experience

  • Packaging, Aerosol Production, and Maintenance experience is a plus

  • Past experiences in highly regulated chemical manufacturing are a plus

  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM)

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective coaching and mentoring

  • Ability to convert goals into action-oriented initiatives, and the skill to execute accordingly

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cost savings initiatives and productivity improvement opportunities

  • Assertive self-starter with high initiative and ability to prioritize effectively

  • Open, honest communication style with interpersonal and facilitation skills

Job Requirements:

  • 1st shift with ability to work on other shifts as needed

  • Available to support 24/7 continuous manufacturing operations

  • Requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protectors, and steel toed work boots

  • Exposure to noise and subject to regular bending, twisting, and reaching

  • This position is not eligible for remote work
