ABOUT THE ROLE

The Global Safety Assessment and Regulatory Affairs (GSARA) Associate Manager for North America (NA) Registration and Regulatory Compliance is a headquarter position providing technical and business leadership in the regulatory and corporate compliance of food contact or food packaging product portfolio sold within North America, i.e. United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

In this role you will be tasked with the day-to-day management of regulatory compliance and registration of food contact or food packaging product portfolio, corporate compliance, activities associated with rendering opinions in corporate escalated issue resolution, and ensuring the appropriate documentation is generated and stored to support products in the market. The ideal candidate will be able to exercise situational leadership to identify gaps and inefficiencies in existing processes and move to action through strategic collaboration with regional stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Is accountable for the overall management of the day-to-day activities related to regulatory compliance for the food contact product portfolio including but not limited to:

    • Pre-market assessments, which involves developing, securing, and maintaining documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations for FDA, Health Canada and more localized state or provincial requirements

    • Review and approval of artwork and media assets for the food contact product portfolio

    • Provide analysis, advice, and expertise in regulatory related matters to food contact materials leveraging knowledge in material sciences and safety assessments

    • Provide and deliver regulatory risk assessments to leadership in support of corporate project discussions

    • Support internal and external regulatory audits

  • Understand the latest information on regulatory requirements, innovations, emerging opportunities, and market trends impacting the foodcontact industry by: 

    • Engaging with industry trade groups and committees, maintain industry networks and connections, create and execute advocacy strategies to protect the business and monitor the work of government agencies and working groups

    • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant regulations, including monitor emerging trends, proposals, and final rulings to understand potential impacts on business, communicate options, determine actions, and imbed new regulatory requirements into procedures to ensure compliance to any new regulations, including state-level restrictions

  • Integrate stakeholder feedback into strategic planning and operational processes to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in a regulated industry or government OR master’s degree and at least 4 years of experience

  • Experience in food contact material science and safety assessments, required for related United States and Canadian regulations

  • Knowledge of ingredient restrictions related to food contact materials and manufacturing

  • Strong understanding of NA regulatory requirements and how that relates to product compliance

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Copy and labeling review expertise for regulatory compliance

  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration and track record of driving teams for results

  • Global understanding of food contact material regulatory environment

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance principles

  • Experience in new product development processes

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Full time onsite role in Racine, WI, Monday to Friday, core hours: 9-3

  • Minimum 10% travel

  • This role is not eligible for relocation

  • Remote work is available once per week for eligible employees
