About The Role :
The Manager, Procurement - Global Portfolio leads the overall management of Global Procurement for the categories of Fragrance & Wax. These key categories represent $200MM in spend and encompass a high level of technical and supply complexity. In this role, you’ll develop global Procurement strategy for Fragrances & Wax to deliver on cost & working capital improvements, innovation, supply resiliency and sustainability. You’ll manage strategic relationships with suppliers to facilitate X-functional interaction with suppliers for business value creation and growth. Bring your experience in partnering with R&D, Marketing, and other enterprise stakeholders to drive preferred status in the presentation of new technologies and other product opportunities, while creating an advantaged cost position for SCJ.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Owns the Global Strategy for Fragrance & Wax. Develops and executes Global strategy through:
- Development of key levers and global strategies taking into consideration regional needs
- Cost modelling
- RFI/ RFP processes
- Negotiations
- Global Supplier sourcing and New Product (Innovation) support
- Supplier evaluation and selection
- Contract negotiation/execution
- Organize Top to Top meeting between SC Johnson and suppliers Sr stakeholders to consolidate strategic relationship and drive value creation for both sides
- Engage with key business stakeholders to achieve alignment on long-term strategies to deliver business growth through Innovation and delivered profit margin optimization.
- Manage supplier relationships to drive product innovation, sustainability, speed to market, supply assurance and other business objectives.
- Develop a robust resiliency supply plan to support business growth and be better prepared for world transformation like geopolitical disputes and pandemics
- Deliver committed cost savings, working capital improvement, sustainability, and other value creation goals for the global spend.
- Develop “should cost” models, clean sheets, total cost of ownership, and supply& demand analysis to drive global strategy, supplier selections and delivered profit margin improvement.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of global/regional supply markets, commodity trends including global and regional influences and communicate forecasts and market dynamics to key stakeholders as part of budgeting process
- Identifies sustainability trends in Raw Materials categories and contributes to the creation of, and supports the delivery of, SCJ sustainability targets
- Leads & manages special projects in support of long-term business plans, e.g., commodity harmonization or standardization programs, spec optimization, complexity reduction, new product launches etc.
- Influences and partners cross-functionally with R&D and Commercial business in the development of new formulas, specifications, to better manage cost, supply risk, etc
- Develops internal team to drive results in all the strategic levers (such as cost, working capital, sustainability, innovation, supply assurance).
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Science/Engineering/Business/Finance or military experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
- 5+ years of relevant experience within Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and/or RD&E
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- 3+ years of experience in Procurement Leadership role
- MBA
- Experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Industry
- Global People Management experience
- Business experience in Manufacturing, Engineering and/or RD&E in a supplier facing role
- Strong Financial Acumen and Influencing Skills
- Ability to collaborate cross functionally and interface with multiple levels of both internal and external organizations
- Knowledgeable in current and future policies, trends, tech and information impacting the business and organization; knows how the business and competition works.
- Constructs compelling development plans, executes them and encourages people to take roles which expand their career development.
