As the Associate Manager, Accounting, Tax, you will be responsible to manage the tax aspects & statutory financial reporting of Thailand including appropriate internal controls, identifying tax issues (income and transactional taxes), foreign currency, transfer pricing, customs assistance, international audit issues, U.S. tax reporting and local tax provision reviews, managing local country tax compliance (income tax, withholding tax, and indirect tax), etc. This position will leverage 3rd party outsourcing where necessary per guidance from Corporate Tax.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tax Planning
- This position will provide guidance on such items like: transfer-pricing, repatriation, currency issues, expatriates, indirect tax issues, etc. with a balanced approach taking into consideration risk factors and impact on the local subsidiary’s effective tax rate.
- Review country income and indirect tax legislation, changes in tax rulings and regulations, and court decisions to determine their impact on corporate operations and recommend, where desirable, alternative actions to minimize tax liability. This position will leverage 3rd party outsourcing where necessary per guidance from Corporate Tax.
- Prepare VAT and WHT filing as well as statutory accounts compliance to local country Statutory requirements ( E.g Central bank, statistic report/survey from local government, etc) Tax Expenses
Tax Expenses
- Be responsible for monitoring and assisting in the calculation of the local subsidiary’s tax expense calculations as well as U.S. GAAP income tax reporting requirements.
- Statutory Financial Reporting & Tax Compliance
- Provide guidance, support, and prepare/ review tax returns (income and indirect) for completeness as well as assist with the tax provision to tax return true-ups.
- Complete corporate tax package, support and assist with legal, tax and custom audits.
- Proper documentations and filings for tax inquiries and audit.
- If the preparation of income and indirect tax returns is managed by a service provider, this position will complete tax packages and provide necessary financial data requested by such service provider.
- Support the monthly close process and year-end activities, ensuring accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Proper and ensure statutory financial reporting completed and filed as per timelines.
- Work with SSC on Treasury, A/P and General Ledger topics.
- Providing ongoing training/support to employees in terms of statutory update such as GST, WHT & Corporate Tax compliance.
Control and SOAR
- Support internal audit and annual external audit and review
- Complete the yearly SOAR testing
- Develop and maintain controls and compliance, such as courier services.
- Assists in preparing Accounting Policies & Procedures for the following :-
- Indirect Taxes Process
- Direct Taxes Process
- WHT compliance & process
- Local Fixed Assets Management process in the areas of write off, disposal & retirements
- Other tasks assigned by line manager
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
- The educational background for this position requires a degree in accounting or finance,
- Obtain CPA license would be a plus
- 5-10 years of Tax and Accounting experiences (more than 3 years in Thai Tax).
- The ideal candidate should have 2 or more years tax experience at a public accounting firm or large corporation performing similar tax related activities.
- Fluent in English and Thai (both written & verbal)
- Strong Computer skills, Microsoft Office, SAP, BPC
