ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Associate, Formulation and Process, you will contribute to the technical development of new or modified formulations for products in support of SC Johnson (SCJ) portfolio of brands. You will develop new products, line extensions, and support business maintenance activities to ensure the health of the brand. You will participate in cross functional teams under the supervision of the R&D Regional Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Validate formulations to meet internal ingredient standards and industry best practices for safety, scientific significance, accuracy, and recordkeeping
- Formulate new products, product changes, and complete competitive assessments which result in new consumer benefits, reduced cost, or improved environmental impact of the products
- Execute all formula relevant testing and trials within the laboratory or pilot plant for prototype preparation, evaluation testing, validation, etc., with accurate recording and reporting of data
- Create specifications and enter formulation information into PLM. Submit and manage requests to intra-company departments to review and approve formulations
- Collaborate with multifunctional core team members (R&D, Design, Marketing, Marketing Research, and Product Supply) to successfully identify, develop, and launch new products in an accelerated manner
- Support product scale up and manufacturing line trials through commercialization
- Prepare processing instructions and specifications, and enter data into PLM
- Work with multiple product types and translate user needs into consumer-preferred solutions
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field
- Fluent in English
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
- Strong foundation in inorganic and organic chemistry, including antimicrobials, surfactants and builders, oxidizers, and organic solvents.
- Understanding of colloidal and modified rheology systems
- Understanding of manufacturing facilities and processes, including liquid mixing, fluid dynamics, and unit operations.
- Scientific curiosity and the ability to solve technical problems related to formulation and manufacturing
- Highly proactive and results-oriented approach
- Excellent organizational, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in working with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Able to build strong working relationships with cross-functional tea
