JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician
Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated machinery and control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and associated electronic components. The primary objective is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing and storage equipment, reducing downtime and enhancing productivity. In addition, the technician will maintain facility utilities and services such as HVAC systems, RO plants, boilers, air compressors, and fire equipment, while overseeing spare parts and tool inventories.
Responsibilities:
PLC Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain PLC systems and other machine control systems.
- Monitor and adjust control settings for optimal machine performance.
- Modify and update PLC programs to align with production changes. Electrical & Mechanical
Maintenance:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on production equipment, including sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and electronic controls.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical malfunctions to restore equipment functionality.
- Understand and maintain explosion-proof equipment, including repairs and upkeep.
- Conduct repairs on electrical circuits, wiring, and related components.
Flammable and Combustible Area Equipment (LPG):
- Operate, repair, and maintain ATEX-rated equipment used in flammable and combustible environments, such as LPG, kerosene, and solvents.
- Maintain and repair flammable and combustible pipelines, control equipment, and instrumentation.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of the emergency shutdown systems, including LPG detection systems and controls, for flammable networks.
Machine Control Systems:
- Maintain and troubleshoot Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), control panels, and other automated systems.
- Install, calibrate, and maintain sensors, switches, relays, and safety circuits.
- Collaborate with technicians, engineers, or contractors to install and integrate new control systems with existing machinery.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs, documenting repairs, spare part usage, and system adjustments.
- Provide recommendations to improve machine safety and performance.
- Assist in updating machine manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to company safety, health, and environmental policies, including Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, Working at Height, Confined Spaces, and LPG handling.
- Ensure the contractor work and staff work permitting requirements are met including the risk assessments and relevant organizational safety permits.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Experience you’ll bring:
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering graduate or diploma holder with the ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electronics fields with expertise in PLC and control systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing plant, preferably in an aerosol factory or with LPG equipment.
- Skills and experience in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control system maintenance and repair are preferred.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Fluent English, Arabic is a plus.
