Intern, Research & Development (Entomology)

Summary:

We’re looking for a passionate and detail-driven Entomology Intern to join our SCJ RD&E team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our team of experienced entomologists, gain hands-on experience in insect rearing, contribute to innovative research projects and support data analysis and product development. The intern will also develop valuable skills in laboratory operation and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining laboratory reared insect colonies, ensuring healthy and quality insects.

• Participate in testing and evaluation of pest control products to ensure generation of reliable data that complies with testing guidelines and protocols.

• Support / prepare the laboratory documentation process, including observation, test protocol development, recording testing data, results, and reports.

• Help maintain entomology inventory and manage consumable materials for rearing, testing and evaluation.

• Maintain a safe, clean and organized laboratory workspace, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Biology, Zoology, Public Health or a related field.

• Fluent in English

• Ability and willingness to work partial shifts on weekends and holidays.

• Familiarity with / Strong interest in learning insect biology and testing methods.

• Experience with insect rearing activities and pest management is a plus.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to details and ability to follow protocols.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Job Requirements:

• 6 Months

• 0-5% Travel

• Ability to carry heavy laboratory equipment/materials
