About the Role:

As the Design Engineering Generalist Manager you are a member of the Ziploc site engineering team. You will lead site engineering projects while providing technical guidance and excellence for the manufacturing site. You will serve as a Ziploc Process/Equipment Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the global films and wraps processing organization, collaborating with various departments.

Contribute to the design activity for bags, wraps, and packaging systems within projects across SCJ-related production locations, supporting project implementation through start-up. You will be responsible for equipment modeling and managing digital site assets such as CAD design file systems, Cybersecurity, design reviews, and design specification management. This role will play a crucial role in developing safe, innovative, and cost-effective capabilities in collaboration with SHE, QA, Lean, Global Engineering, R&D pilot plant and operations to enable new products and process innovations. Continuously seek and develop new solutions within the Ziploc technology space to advance our world class manufacturing process capabilities, including technical partnership with external machine vendors and other COE Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of global bags and wraps processing and equipment technical standards by creating, reviewing and updating them, while supporting the ownership of key document template standards within SCJ's Engineering Work Process.

  • Conduct technical audits of system capabilities within SCJ Home Storage plants, and assess MRA’s (Machine Risk Assessment) initiatives

  • Lead technical teams during design phases of major projects and support key maintenance/rebuilds as appropriate, and drive technical input to guide business and operational decisions.

  • Execute specific projects from feasibility to startup phases.

  • Collaborate with R&D and other technical partners on new scale-up process developments.

  • Contribute to breakthrough innovation opportunities involving capacity improvement, cost savings, process optimization, productivity, and new process control strategies.

  • Learn new business and technical industry trends to understand the broader landscape.

  • Assist in creating and developing training packages to coach and develop site manufacturing process technicians and engineers to fostering a learning culture for continuous growth.

Required Experience You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience leading continuous processing and/or packaging line designs in a plant factory environment with capital project involvement.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate and influence.

  • Experience supporting project design and delivery with a budget greater than $1 million.

  • End to end capital project execution experience.

  • Working knowledge of end of line packing systems and specification standards

  • Working knowledge of extrusion/film processing/packaging and specification standards.

  • Experience in contractor and vendor management.

  • Ability to contribute to project scope, cost estimate, and schedule.

  • Familiarity with statistical methods for design of experiments or process improvement.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute simultaneous projects and support activities.

  • Experience with plastic extrusion, film making, web handling.

  • Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault design and file systems.

  • MS Office Applications.

  • AI and Machine Learning experience

  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Management

Job Requirements:

  • Full-time position with occasional Operations support outside of core business hours to support 24x7 Manufacturing and Engineering environments.

  • Travel expected at 5-10%.
