About the Role:This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the manufacturing facility on the off shift. This includes facilitating all operations within the plant on the off shift to produce finished goods safely, efficiently and in accordance with SCJ quality and environmental standards and good manufacturing practices. Also key responsibilities will include team development for all offshift employees
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health, Safety & Environmental - Champion and participate on task forces to develop health and safety programs. Take all actions necessary for the adequate control and/or elimination of hazards in the workplace.
Provide support, direction, coaching and training to the Working Leads and teams for all health and safety issues. Responsible for meeting all requirements defined in health and safety programs.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory health and safety requirements. Ensure competent supervision for all business activities. Facilitate and participate in health and safety training on all new and existing programs as required.
In conjunction with environmental resources, will drive a proactive environmental program. A key component of this role will be to monitor aspects and impacts and drive improvements
2. Team Development – Primary responsibility for fostering, developing and growing teams within the manufacturing environment. This is a core competency that must be fostered through team vision, goal setting, evolving team structure, assessing team dynamics and identifying training to maintain the momentum and ensure constant growth.
Provide direction and coaching to the team to set and achieve/exceed business objectives (i.e. productivity, quality, safety, environmental, and customer service). Responsibilities could span multiple production line(s) and/or department(s).
Inspire the team to stretch their thinking and move their boundaries, delegating empowerment based on team readiness and will challenge organizational and management practices that impede team development.
3. Quality – responsible for ensuring adequate training, education and awareness, to grow quality systems and to challenge individual teams to maximize percent conformance.
4. Operations management - Establish and maintain excellence in daily, weekly and monthly routines, including robust pre shift meetings, daily huddles
Drive the execution of PPIs to achieve operational KPIs
Work collaboratively with Working Leads and manufacturing staff to reach manufacturing standards and goals, KPIs, ensuring adherence to quality and safety protocols.
Work collaboratively with planning to drive required output in the most effective manner
Work cross functionally with Maintenance, CI and other functions to address non conformances and top loss to achieve optimal output and performance. Utilize problem solving methodology to drive understanding of root cause to improve production output and efficiency
5. People Management – Within the assigned production line(s) and/or department(s) will be involved in the hiring process and have responsibility for recognition of employees/teams, individual coaching, personal objectives setting, and performance management including PMP completion.
Will work collaboratively with Day shift Production Associate Manager to ensure adequate and appropriate resources are planned for the off shift requirements.
Required Experience You’ll Bring:
University Degree
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing leadership role
Mechanical aptitude
Employees be available to and willing to work all shifts nights and afternoons and continental shifts as required
Well versed in the OH&S Act and Regulations related to a manufacturing setting
Flexibility to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision to meet operational goals
Proficient in the use and application of MS Office Suite Products (Outlook – Calendar and Email; Word, Excel)
Must be process oriented and demonstrate critical thinking skills
Preferred Experiences and Skills:
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills
Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety or complexity
Demonstrated strength in problem solving and troubleshooting
Demonstrate basic math and measurement skills
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment
