Associate Manager, Operations Cost Accounting

Location: Cairo, Egypt

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role is part of SC Johnson’s Global Supply Chain organization and is responsible for the financial management of the manufacturing site in Cairo, Egypt. Main activities include performance monitoring, budgeting & forecasting, CAPEX management, overall support of the cost saving program and rigorously drive adherence to controls & compliance framework. The role will have a strong connection with the regional AMET Supply Chain team across multiple locations in the EMEA Region, the regional Costing team based in Italy, as well as the regional MENAPT headquarter based in Turkey. At the same time, the position will ensure continuity in financial reporting in strong collaboration with SC Johnson’s Shared Services Center team based in Cairo, Egypt.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Performance Monitoring: deliver budgets and manage financial performance of the manufacturing site with focus on volumes produced, conversion cost and cost savings delivered. Prepare actionable reporting of key performance measures by providing timely and relevant business commentaries.

Budgeting and Forecasting: provide accurate forecast updates for the manufacturing site following the S&OP process aimed at controlling and optimizing delivered costs across the supply chain. This includes absorption, functional expenses, material variances, efficiency variances process and highlight risks & opportunities with regards to future plant performance.

CAPEX Management: lead the preparation capital investment proposals, identify & quantify drivers of costs or benefits and perform Return-on-Investment (ROI) analysis. Guide organization to obtain sign-off by senior management, ensure project execution is in line with approved investment proposals and improve capital project spending tracking systems.

Cost Savings: support organization on identification and quantification of cost saving opportunities through thorough analysis to eliminate all forms of waste across the supply chain with focus on manufacturing. This includes optimization of equipment productivity (OEE), sub-optimal allocation of resources, waste reduction and sourcing & strategy studies. Influence the supply chain team to take decisions which will result in strong plant (financial) performance, prepare recommendations and support implementation.

Financial Controls & Compliance: Continuously improve internal controls environment following the Sarbanes-Oxley control framework with focus on manufacturing & inventory controls. Be an ambassador for internal controls to ensure best-in-class controls are in operation at the site and act as main point of contact for external and internal auditors. Implement process improvements based on recommendations made by global internal audit while support the delivery against statutory reporting requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • University Degree in Economics, Finance or Business Management with minimum of 5-7 years post-qualification experience
  • Excellent accountancy understanding, ideally incl. previous exposure to US GAAP.
  • Strong Computer skills, Microsoft Office, SCALA, SAP/BPC.

  • Self-motivated “can do” attitude, showing a high degree of initiative.
  • Prior experience in a FMCG and supply chain is a plus, though not essentially required
