Regulatory Toxicologist

•             Location: Frimley, Surrey

•             Function: GSARA - Global Safety Assessment Regulatory Affairs

About the role

As a Regulatory Toxicologist at SC Johnson, you’ll be at the heart of protecting consumers—ensuring our pest control products are safe, compliant, and trusted worldwide.

You’ll apply your toxicology expertise to deliver robust safety assessments, navigate evolving regulations, and stay ahead of emerging scientific risks that could shape the business. This is a fast-moving role where your insight directly influences product development and strategic decisions.

Working cross-functionally with teams in Safety, Regulatory, R&D, Marketing, and Legal, you’ll turn complex science into clear, actionable guidance—and drive safe innovation across our portfolio.

Please note this role is not eligible for international relocation. 

Remote work is available once per week for eligible employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Use both existing regulatory guidance and novel approaches to assess human health risks of pest control products in support of our global Business categories.
  • Deliver product safety reviews for formulas, raw materials and human testing in accordance with established procedures and ensure timelines are met.
  • Monitor in vivo, in vitro and/or human clinical studies in accordance with applicable regulations and/or company policies
  • Develop higher-tier risk assessments for final product clearance
  • Understand and communicate complex technical issues to internal and external and provide expert inputs and/or prepare technical response to questions from regulatory authorities
  • Lead the development of technical solutions for pest control products, & options to mitigate potential risks, to RD&E Project Teams and where appropriate escalate.
  • Participate in applicable trade associations and communicate any business-related items to appropriate safety, regulatory, RD&E, marketing and/or legal teams.
  • Identify opportunities to lead development of new processes or procedures to improve efficiency or harmonization
  • Coach other team members in relevant technical/procedural approaches

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Advanced degree in toxicology or biological sciences with relevant industry experience
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of human health risk assessment and higher tier refinement strategies
  • Familiarity with international chemical and consumer product regulations including, but not limited to, CPSC, EPA FIFRA, US FDA, and/or EU BPR regulations and experience with global government authorities

  • Ability to distill and summarize technically complex risk assessment science into practical solutions & actions in a clear and articulate fashion to a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside of the Global Product Safety Department
  • Ability to keep up to speed with changing regulatory requirements and contribute to the discussions around proposed changes.
  • Proven situational leadership skills & ability to forge strong relationships with colleagues
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across functional/department lines.
  • Proven capability to build strong relationships outside the company.
