Role Overview
To drive the profitably growth of the key product portfolio by leading best-in-class marketing execution activities to build brand equity and ensuring continued local consumer satisfaction, for the Africa Cluster. The position reports directly to the Manager, Marketing Commercialization
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with Platform (Global Office) on globally agreed brand strategies
- Leveraging new products and communication assets from Platform
- Creation of local country growth plans and execution of those plans in collaboration with the Global Agency hubs and Sales team
- Controls and manages brand budgets
- Monitor and analyses competitive activity
- Manages the commercialization of new product introductions as an integral member of the Africa Cluster Project Team
- Extensive cross collaboration within the Matrix organisation to leverage and share best practise across the SCJ world
- Category P&L management to drive profitable growth
- Drive penetration and increase consumption to grow share across key markets within the cluster
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- B. Comm. Honours Marketing/ Business Management
- Min. 8 years Marketing experience in an FMCG environment (preferably with a Multi-national company)
- Experience in working within Sub-Sahara Africa would be advantageous
- Proficient in the use of the Nielsen Answers system and the use of any other retail syndicated data (e.g. Dunhumby, Insights etc.)
- Financial acumen: clear understanding of the workings of a P&L and the key drivers that need to be tracked and improved on to achieve healthy profitable growth in the category
- Cross Organisational project management experience
- SAP : Creating and managing marketing budgets with PO/ Trackers
- Sales/Customer Marketing/ B2B or hospitality channel experience would be advantageous
- Exposure to highly regulated categories and their workings would be advantageous
Skills & Behaviours you’ll need:
- Ability to translate business strategy into in-market executions that resonate with local consumers
- Ability to partner with and lead the company’s agencies to adapt Global toolkits and integrated multi-channel communication assets and turn them into locally relevant executions that builds brand equity and connects with the target consumer
- The ability to enrich the understanding of consumer/shopper motivations, beliefs and behaviours in order to develop marketing plans that build brand and commercial equity
- Have sound business analytics to define root cause from data (market and P&L), translate into insights and convert that knowledge into timely and actionable decisions and plans
- Analyse brand financials to identify risks and/or opportunities toward growth targets and lead the development of plans to mitigate or capitalize on such risks or opportunities
- Ability to manage budgets and proactively recommend ways to utilize resource more efficiently and effectively
- Strong project management skills and the ability to navigate through a matrix resource structure
- High EQ in terms of cross functional collaboration and leading teams through times of uncertainty and ambiguity
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver against multiple deadlines
- Must demonstrate the willingness and ability to “roll up ones’ sleeves” to get the job done
- Must demonstrate resilience when facing challenges and adversity and have the ability to self-motivate and show continued enthusiasm and drive especially during these times
