As the Associate Manager, SHE the primary responsibility of this role is the planning, design, implementation and oversight of the site’s safety and health compliance programs, leading continuous improvement initiatives including data analysis, incident management and risk assessment activities. In this role you will manage both direct reports and contractors while developing and partnering with “champions” within the site’s Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure that critical compliance activities are completed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Integrates SHE policies and standards into broader operations and business strategies to promote a strong culture, risk-aware decision-making and behaviors.
Collaborates with Operations leaders to develop and improve strategies to prevent injuries and incidents.
Supports risk assessments, incident management and investigations, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Develops and delivers effective SHE training and communications and manages activities of outside contractors and vendors.
Oversees safety and health regulatory compliance, interacts with regulatory officials, and leads regulatory reporting processes as needed.
Analyzes injury and incident data to understand patterns and trends, identifies and proposes practical solutions to mitigate risks.
Oversees leading and lagging safety and health metrics programs including auditing processes.
Manages the execution of capital projects in support of SHE strategic initiatives.
Leads, coaches and develops a team of SHE professionals.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline
5+ years of SHE leadership responsibility in a manufacturing organization
Demonstrated project management experience to enable prioritization and management of multiple projects to completion.
Strong knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or country equivalent preferred.
Experience leading teams / managing others.
Ability to effectively interact with others, establishing open, candid and trusting relationships to create win/win outcomes.
Effective verbal and written communication skills that permit the clear and concise transfer of information to stakeholders.
Partners with site operations leaders to deploy leader standard work for managers and supervisors to support achievement of site-specific targets and objectives.
Ability to influence decisions based on providing appropriate fact-based rationale
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Full-time core office hours with expectation to be available for occasional nights/weekends
Up to 10% domestic travel may be required
Work in an office environment will be approximately 50% of time
Work in a manufacturing environment will be approximately 50% of time
