Director, Global Employee & Labor Relations

As the Director, Global Employee and Labor Relations, you will lead the function ensuring we uphold this commitment to our employees through the development and execution of our employee relations and labor relations strategies.

The role is responsible for strengthening a positive employee relations environment, resolving complex workplace matters, supporting labor relations strategy, and ensuring that employee and labor relations practices are aligned with company values, business priorities, and applicable laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and guide implementation of a globally focused employee relations and labor relations support model. This strategy will fully support the business strategy across multiple facilities and global functions. 
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of employee relations professionals; set priorities, build capability, and ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Provide proactive, practical counsel to senior leaders, HR Business Partners, Field HR, and site leadership on complex employee relations and labor relations matters, risk assessment, and workplace climate.
  • Oversee complex and sensitive workplace investigations, corrective actions, performance and conduct matters, and other employee concerns; ensure matters are handled with rigor, consistency, confidentiality, and respect.
  • Coach and guide local site leadership, HR Business Partners and Field HR professionals in creating and maintaining a positive employee work environment.
  • Use employee relations trends, case data, engagement insights, and root-cause analysis to identify workplace risks and recommend practical actions that strengthen employee trust and improve the workplace climate.
  • Ensure employee and labor relations activities comply with applicable employment and labor laws and align with company values, policies, and expectations.
  • Build a global network of employee and labor relations partners, standards, tools, and capabilities that enable locally compliant, culturally aware, and globally consistent support.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant employee relations and labor relations responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience advising leaders and managing complex, sensitive employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment and labor law, with the judgment to partner effectively on country-specific laws, works councils, employee representative matters, and local requirements.
  • Experience supporting both union and non-union environments, including grievance handling, collective bargaining support, and proactive employee relations strategies.
  • Experience handling official government agency charges, complaints, investigations, audits, or similar employment/labor matters.
  • People leadership experience, including direct leadership, coaching, and capability building for HR or employee relations professionals.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, written communication, and executive-level verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Master's degree, JD, HR certification, labor relations certification, or other relevant advanced credential.
  • Experience in a multinational, matrixed organization with global exposure and strong cultural agility.
  • Experience in manufacturing, field/site operations, consumer products, or similarly complex operating environments.
  • Data-driven and systems-minded; experience with employee relations case management tools, metrics, dashboards, reporting, process standardization, or continuous improvement.
  • Strategic and hands-on leader who is comfortable operating across all levels of the organization and in ambiguous, sensitive, or time-critical situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  •  Travel up to 10% globally
  •  Office work environment: Remote work available once a week for eligible employees
  •  This role is eligible for domestic relocation.
