Operate, maintain, and mechanically or systematically intervene with various types of low-tech and high-tech equipment including filling, labeling, packaging and palletizing equipment across single or multiple lines. The primary goal is to work safely with a focus on teamwork towards the reduction of downtime, as well as improving efficiency and quality. Partnering with cross-functional teams is crucial to the success of an Aerosols and Liquids Operator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Seamlessly flex between areas/machines
  • Troubleshoot and find a resolution of process/equipment/component issues
  • Work to maximize uptime and reduce scrap
  • Maintain and improve quality standards
  • Apply root cause problem solving methods and practices
  • Identify wastes and eliminate losses
  • Perform quick changeovers & work towards changeover reduction
  • Support Plant audits: GMP, SQA, ISO, SEA, Housekeeping, Center lining, etc.
  • Use consistent application of Lean Principles (i.e. Standard Work, Center lining, CIL,
  • QCO, 5S, Loss Teams, Kaizens, etc.)
  • Complete technical training grid requirements within the allotted timeframe
  • Analyze information from data collection systems to determine and apply appropriate next steps.
  • Make minor machine adjustments when needed
  • Learns how to create an accurate phenomenon statement
  • Can solve routine problems and troubleshoot on their own with limited direction
  • Maintenance on equipment
  • Validates data regularly to correctly identify problems
  • Participates in DMAIC or Kaizen events
  • Team resource to analyze and solve complex technical problems and delivers solutions
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with SCJ policies and procedures.
  • Interact professionally and make positive contributions within the team and business environment using SCJ principles.
  • Develop and maintain compliance to standard work and standard operating procedures.
  • Show adaptability by performing various assignments during the shift.
  • Indirect leader through acting as an informal resource/mentor for colleagues with less experience
  • Complete intermediate level of training on all line Equipment
  • Trains others regularly on all line equipment
  • Able to fulfill QLR or SLR role on team as needed
  • Helps develop new procedures and practices
  • May function as a key process owner / driver in a specified area of responsibility
  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment utilizing company resources
  • Support business as needed with flow-to-work opportunities

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturing Technical Degree or a Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a fast paced, highly automated integrated continuous process flow manufacturing environment utilizing multiple technologies. 
  • SC Johnson Waxdale Aerosol Manufacturing experience
  • Ability to perform maintenance on equipment (A & B Cells)
  • Ability to actively assist senior operators with rebuilds and PMs

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Advanced in the use and application of SAP
  • Assist maintenance mechanic on low- and high-tech equipment overhauls
  • One year of experience with Labeling, LPG and/or Liquid Filling
  • Two year of experience with Capping, Case packing, erecting, and sealing equipment
  • Prior Team Lead experience
  • Proficient in the use and application of MS Office Suite Products
  • Leadership experience (Facilitating meetings/presentations and well as leading others)
  • Experience with: Filling, Robotics, labeling, sleeving, or thermoforming equipment, and General automated manufacturing or product equipment
  • Working knowledge of Safety, and Health and Environment principles and practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven ability to apply problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision to meet operational goals
  • Multitasking and running/setting up multiple high-tech machines at the same time
  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
  • Formally training other operators to skill mastery
  • Additional Training and Education Preferred:
    • Associate’s or Technical Degree/Certification
    • Process Safety Management training
    • Certification as an equipment operator trainer
    • Equipment Certification

Job Requirements:

  • This position is on C-Team (7p-7a)
  • Ability to complete the essential functions of the job and tolerate the ergonomic stressors of the job.  This includes lifting up to forty (40) pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, reaching overhead, pushing, and pulling for up to eight (8) to twelve (12) hours daily
  • All of ones’ time is spent in manufacturing working environment
