ABOUT THE ROLE
If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your knowledge base and progress your career in chemistry/formulation, SC Johnson has an exciting opportunity as a Senior Associate with our North America Air Care team. This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts and report to an R&D Manager.
As a Senior Associate, you will contribute to the technical development and qualification of new product formulations that support growth of our Glade® brand. Your work will consist of providing technical leadership on a range of project types, while assisting in developing new products, troubleshooting issues, supporting line extensions and assist with technology advancements with result in consumer preferred benefits. You will participate on cross-functional teams and work under supervision performing tasks with an increasing level of independence, receiving coaching and guidance where needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with project managers and cross functional teams to build project timelines, deliver key milestones and provide input on technical risks and mitigation plans
Develop formulations that meet prioritized performance metrics informed by consumer, while achieving industry requirements for safety, quality and claim support documentation
Prepare samples and track documentation for stability, micro-challenge, toxicological, clinical, and performance testing. Coordinate outside testing with appropriate resources as required
Monitor stability testing, including first production run stabilities, and maintain records thoroughly and concisely compliant with good laboratory practices
Interpret consumer test results and provide recommendations for product improvements and advantaged claims
Complete all technical deliverables properly and on-time
Model R&D functional skills including effective communication, consumer / customer focus, quality in design, scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and product safety
Communicate technical concepts effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across functions (R&D, Design, Marketing, Marketing Research, and Product Supply), while expressing your viewpoint and recommendation, which will help unlock speed in execution
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of science including Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering and 1+ years of relevant experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Experience working with fragrances in formulation of products is highly preferred
An awareness of regulatory processes (i.e., EPA registrations), intellectual property strategies, and ability to evaluate the environmental impact of raw materials
Experience in formulation chemistries (emulsions, gels, polymers, surfactants, solvents, etc.) and/or delivery system designs (aerosols or device technologies, etc.)
Knowledge of NPD commercialization processes, including experience with material specification development & management (PLM based system or similar)
Proactive problem solver and results driven, with ability to anticipate risks and communicate mitigation recommendations
Comfortable working in complex and ambiguous situations
Experience with AI (Artificial Intelligence)
Application of key product development approaches and tools such as consumer research methods, design of experiments, and FMEA to deliver on product design requirements
Familiarity with hazardous or flammable material handling and transportation requirements
Strong communicator with experience presenting ideas with courage and conviction to business stakeholders
Familiar with eCommerce product design requirements & classifications

This position works in an office environment and will be located at our Sam’s campus in Mt. Pleasant
Full time days, Monday thru Friday, business hours
Ability to lift 10 – 40 pounds
Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees
This position is eligible for domestic relocation
