ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Associate, you will have access to an internal community of packaging engineers at a variety of career levels to further develop your packaging technical expertise. As a subject matter expert, you will be an integral member of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the Home Storage product lines and ensure that key project objectives align with business strategy. This includes managing multiple concurrent projects and activities along with any shifting priorities. You will lead the development and commercialization of new products, packaging, and line extensions, while supporting technical initiatives driven by organizational, business and market requirements.
To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable with ambiguity and problem solving to anticipate and communicate technical risks and mitigation strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead packaging development for new products, line extensions, and commercialization projects across the North America Home Storage business.
Identify and apply new and existing packaging technologies to improve product performance, cost, sustainability, and shelf appeal.
Provide technical leadership within cross‑functional teams to design new packaging and optimize existing formats.
Plan and execute packaging testing and line trials to support component changes, equipment updates, and site transfers.
Manage packaging development timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet defined success criteria.
Collaborate closely with R&D, Design, Marketing, and Supply Chain to accelerate product development and launch.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, bills of materials, pallet factors, and validation reports.
Troubleshoot packaging issues to maintain production schedules and product quality.
Leverage external resources (suppliers, patents, industry trends) to recommend new packaging technologies.
Lead technical reviews and risk discussions, including validation plans, mitigation strategies, and final technical deliverables.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in packaging science/engineering or other relevant engineering discipline and 4+ years of product/packaging development experience OR master’s degree with 2+ years relevant experience.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Expertise in multiple packaging disciplines such as materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding techniques, and/or product/environment compatibility.
Experience and technical competency in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging design, and qualification (e.g., product/package compatibility, distribution/warehouse testing and manufacturing qualification).
Knowledge of Ecommerce Packaging Design and Qualification, Special Packs, Warehouse Club Class of Trade.
Experience leading external service providers, suppliers and vendors.
PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), Microsoft Office Suite, CAPE, Winshuttle, WebCenter.
Familiar with Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology.
Effective oral and written communications, presentation, and storytelling skills.
Agile, adaptable strategic thinker.

Full time, Monday through Friday, business hours
Remote work available once a week for eligible employees
Up to 15% travel primarily to Bay City, MI
Ability to lift 10 – 40 pounds
This role is eligible for domestic relocation
