ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Production Line Shift Supervisor, you will manage the production activities of shift team members across multiple production lines. You will lead and support your teams in achieving safety, quality, and efficiency objectives by providing hands-on leadership on the plant floor, building strong relationships with team members, and fostering a collaborative, continuous improvement environment.

You will play an important role in engaging your team, driving operational performance, and ensuring your shift consistently delivers against SC Johnson's business objectives.

2nd Shift: Primary hours are 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m., with occasional flexibility to overlap with the preceding or following shift based on business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise shift team members, ensuring safety, quality, and production objectives are met.

  • Maintain the weekly production schedules and address staffing or mechanical issues.

  • Build team capabilities through mentoring, training, development, and coaching.

  • Manage staffing and training plans for the shift, including flow-to-work needs to support the business.

  • Lead or coach formal problem-solving efforts to correct issues and gaps against established standards.

  • Complete performance reviews for team members within the area of responsibility.

  • Maintain employee records and compliance documentation and approve timecards.

  • Assist in investigating and resolving employee conflicts and performance issues, enforce internal policies, and administer disciplinary action as appropriate.

  • Conduct on-shift safety, quality, and production incident investigations.

  • Serve as the key contact for Waxdale emergency issues that arise during the shift.

  • Effectively communicate changes, updates, improvements, and problems to teams and support groups.

  • Participate in task forces and core groups that resolve Waxdale shift-related issues.

  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with SCJ policies, procedures, and core values.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; or a university degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience; or an advanced degree with 1+ year of relevant work experience.

  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Demonstrated experience working within a continuous improvement environment using lean manufacturing principles.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively prioritize competing responsibilities.

  • Solid organizational and time management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective coaching and mentoring.

  • Knowledge of all areas of operation at Waxdale.

  • Ability to identify actionable, business-critical goals that can be influenced by business work teams.

  • Ability to convert goals into actions that deliver results.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and support the development and performance of team members.

  • Experience leading high-performance work teams.

  • Knowledge of plant preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toed work boots.

  • Work involves exposure to noise and regular bending, twisting, and reaching.

  • This position is not eligible for remote work.

  • This position is not eligible for relocation.
