Quality Assurance Job ID: 32477ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role you will be responsible for overall leadership, supervision and accountability of the quality management at the SCJ Toluca site, including people management of the quality team and oversight of the Quality Labs. You will ensure that our products consistently meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance, driving excellence across all aspects of the production process in alignment with SCJ global standards.
You will manage and continuously improve the Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with product requirements through the execution of quality control plan, as well as the adherence to global standards and regulatory requirements across diverse technologies and product categories. Management of ISO, GMP and health regulations are an integral part of this role.
This position requires strong personal initiative to identify opportunities, achieve standardization and implement best practices within the Toluca manufacturing facility. Internally, you will partner with Global and Regional Quality Quality Teams, Production, SHE, Lean, Engineering, RD&E, Commercial and other cross-functional groups on capital projects, new product launches and operational improvements to ensure technical alignment and robust qualification processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster a culture of quality, developing capabilities of site quality team to support site needs and working cross-functionally with department leaders and operations associates to drive quality standards and processes.
- Drive performance to Global Quality initiatives and leadership for the Quality Absolutes.
- Lead and support global standards and playbooks training, self-assessments, implementation and gaps follow up; ensuring appropriate quality standards are developed and implemented on the site.
- Manage the Quality Management System, as well as the document control system, risk and non-conformity management; and provide support for all the processes on the implementation and maintenance of the system.
- Adhering to and reinforcing organizational compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) to ensure the quality and safety of the products manufactured at the site.
- Lead and support the different site audits (internal & external) – ISO 9001, ISO 17025, GMP´s, Kosher, Disney (CoC), Costco (GMP & CoC), FSSC 22000; and subsequent corrective actions are completed as required.
- Lead and ensure compliance with the legal quality requirements and management of controlled substances, according to the local regulations.
- Drive quality metrics and coordinate quality data collection; presenting and leading management review for the site to drive home quality priorities. Provide technical support to production lines and all processes in monitoring quality indicators.
- Respond to customer and consumers complaints, in Mexico and all regions, giving a clear response and generating effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage and communicate any Quality Escalated Issues, according to global standards and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with Operations to identify areas of improvement in the manufacturing process, included but not limited to the use of technology in the optimization of quality standards. Assist manufacturing operations to resolve chronic quality losses.
- Manage products and components on Quality Hold working with cross functional groups as needed (Planning, Procurement, Logistic, Manufacturing) to drive product disposition and corrective action.
- Management of production, engineering and new product development projects by quality, through the qualification process, ensuring the adherence to SCJ policies and regulations, and leads quality support activities.
- Identify continual improvement opportunities for the quality programs and systems and maintain relations with counterparts at other locations to ensure best practices are implemented.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field).
- Knowledge of applied statistics including process capability, sampling, and design of experiments.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a Quality function. Familiar with and experienced in the process and technical management requirements of quality control and/or assurance.
- Familiar with and experienced in basic quality tools, such as Control Plan, SPC, AQL, R&R, Sample Size & Confidence Interval, Problem Solving, audits.
- Familiar with and experienced in the process and technical management requirements of Quality Laboratory (Packaging, raw material, and microbiology).
- Computer skills including Excel and SAP.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- English: intermediate to advanced.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
- Quality management system auditing experience: ISO 9001, ISO 17025, FSSC22000 and Good Manufacturing Practices (GPM’s). Preferred Certified Quality Auditor.
- Experience in preventive quality tools (PPAP, FMEA, DOE, Control Plans) and problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of applied statistics including process capability, sampling, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, Acceptance and Sampling, Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience in Laboratory Standards, Physical-chemical analysis, packaging, and microbiology.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills, and leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrate high interpersonal and facilitation skills.
