ABOUT THE ROLE
Lead the strategic growth agenda for Kroger and Albertsons as a Category Leadership Team Lead, driving high‑impact partnerships and next‑level category strategies. In this role, you will inspire and develop a team of associate managers while translating insights into actionable, growth‑focused solutions. You’ll champion customer needs across SCJ, collaborating closely with cross‑functional partners and building strong relationships with category buying teams, ideally influencing at least one level up to unlock new opportunities and elevate our joint business performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop & execute growth agenda (& strategies to achieve growth) for Kroger & Albertson’s. This will be done through discovery sessions (identifying needs & priorities for each customer), setting the agenda for customer engagements throughout the year, identifying opportunities to drive growth & driving best in class category reviews & planogram resets
Lead and develop a team of Category Leadership Associate Managers on Kroger and Albertson’s across all business units (HC, AC, PC, HS) and help them understand their role & responsibility within the customer growth agendas
Coach the team on developing fact-based insights and recommendations via storytelling that will influence the retailer’s category strategies & decisions
Lead and/or play an active role in customer presentations. Through a deep understanding of the consumer/shopper and retailer priorities, translate growth opportunities to the overall customer/category strategy
Where appropriate, manage and deliver against the responsibilities of the Category Captaincy process in partnership with the customer
Evaluate/ monitor all customer category growth solutions, turn analysis into recommended action and continually work to improve effectiveness of the category and efficiencies for the customers
Be the voice of the customer/team’s support & research needs & opportunities (shopper, consumer, etc.) & champion these internally with: CIBA Shopper COE, Omni Marketing, Brand, etc.
Work closely with SCJ account sales team on key external & internal engagements: JBP, Growth Summit Sessions, IGP/Grow, etc. Providing category/brand growth consulting & thought leadership.
Look for synergies between Kroger/Albertson’s teams & workstreams. Share best practices, learnings & when possible, drive efficiency through using the same approaches
Drive new CL capabilities within the team by ensuring the team gets training & understands use cases to apply capabilities. Share use cases with the broader CL team
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of commercial experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 5+ years of commercial experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
2+ years of people management experience
5+ years of experience in Category Management or Shopper Insights
3+ years of business analytics experience
Strong analytical background and understanding of Category Management and Shopper Insights to drive category and SCJ growth
Supports and guides Kroger and Albertson’s in their go-to-market strategies that incorporate shopper insights and market trends
Identify next generation Category tools to best understand the retailer shopper and unlock category growth
Experience in CPG and/or retail, with Kroger/Albertson’s experience as a benefit
Good communication skills, ability to influence internal and external customers and to produce impact on the business
Experience working with syndicated data software (i.e., IRI or Nielsen), JDA and/or Apollo. Shelf IQ preferred
Experience with advanced analytics around promotional / non promotional and pricing strategy
Experience working with Microsoft Office programs specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with retailer specific data such as 84.51
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Full-time onsite role in SC Johnson Cincinnati office
Ability to travel up to 30%
Remote work is available once per week for eligible employees
This role is eligible for relocation
