Deploy, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs: This includes policies, procedures, and training programs aligned with country specific and global SCJ standards.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections: Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Investigate accidents and incidents: Determine root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize future occurrences.
Training, Education & Competency:
Ensure adequacy and deliver safety training programs: This includes country specific, and company defined content.
Plan and develop the SHE organization capability to meet the needs of the plants in the region.
Promote a strong safety culture: Encourage employee participation, feedback, and ownership of safety initiatives and champion development.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Conduct risk assessments: Identify and evaluate potential hazards and their associated risks.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations: Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry standards.
Reviews all internal and external SHE compliance-related findings for the region and ensures that corrective actions addressing the underlying causes of the finding are defined, tracked to completion via the company’s SHE system, and verified as effectively closed.
Address gap closure verification thru proper management and oversight of corrective and preventive actions.
Provides technical support on safety, health and environmental as well process safety matters.
Leads the post incident review and communication of significant safety, health and environmental incidents and ensures that corrective and preventive actions that address the root causes are effectively deployed across the region.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with stakeholders on safety issues and initiatives.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, production) to identify and address safety concerns.
Build strong relationships with regulatory agencies and industry associations.
Be focal point for managing escalation and resolution with subject matter experts.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Track key safety metrics: Incident rates, near misses, injuries, and other relevant data.
Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Generate reports for management and other stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental Science or related discipline.
Proven track record in progressively increasing SHE leadership responsibility in a global manufacturing organization.
Knowledge of current safety and health technologies and processes such as ergonomics risk assessments, industrial hygiene exposure assessments, electrical arc flash hazard analyses and machine safety design principles.
