As a PG4 Molding Technician Lead, you own technical leadership on shift for molding operations. You lead mold changeovers, independently pull/install molds, start up IMMs, and troubleshoot molding processes and auxiliary equipment. You act as an SME, train/mentor PG3 technicians and operators, drive escalations, and continuous improvement to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead mold changeovers and start-up of IMMs; verify processes are at standard and stable.
- Troubleshoot IMM, mold, and auxiliary equipment issues; coordinate with Maintenance, Tool Room, Processing Specialists as needed.
- Monitor RJG/CoPilot data and make in-process adjustments within standard; escalate beyond standard per protocol.
- Coordinate color/resin/mold tests; maintain resin system integrity and basic mold care (clean/grease).
- Execute cell/machine startup and shutdown; support Ops Lead for plant-level procedures.
- Provide technical training/mentorship; develop/maintain training materials with Ops Lead/QTL.
- Partner with QTL on quality decisions and improvement actions; ensure standard work/SOPs are followed.
- Assist Ops Lead to ready department for GMP, ISO, SEA, and 5S audits. Assist Lead in internal 5S audits.
- Lead CI activities (Kaizen, setup reduction, 5S, CILT) in the department.
- Maintain floor to 5S standards and complete equipment CILT’s per schedule to ensure ISO and safety compliance. Follow safety protocols and use required PPE.
- Communicate shift handoff information clearly to incoming counterparts
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
- 3–5+ years in injection molding with demonstrated leadership in changeovers and process troubleshooting.
- Completed skills requirements to function as a Level 3 MTL and able to train others.
- Mechanical aptitude; advanced hand tool skills.
- Structured problem solving (A3, 8D, PDCA); able to identify root causes and implement standard-confirming countermeasures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Technical Degree preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), SAP and Redzone.
- Strong communication; ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
- RJG Systematic Molder and/or Master Molder I (or equivalent).
- Advanced SAP knowledge and experience with Redzone dashboards.
- Lean manufacturing experience and/or CI credentials.
- Working knowledge of SHE principles and practices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Full-time role; overtime may be requested.
- 12-hour shift- D Team
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting to 40 lbs.
