ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Manager, Employee and Labor Relations reporting to the Employee and Labor Relations Director, you will serve as a subject matter expert and strategic partner to our global HR business partners, operations, and legal teams. You will support the development and execution of SC Johnson’s positive employee relations strategy including delivering leadership training, conducting site assessments, and working with local leadership to make appropriate improvements to ensure a positive workforce environment. You will also play a critical role in supporting our employee relations processes.
In this position, you will provide consultative support to our HR business partners on employee relations issues including workplace investigations, performance management, harassment prevention, conflict of interest, workforce planning, and other employee relations issues. This manager will also be responsible for leading highly sensitive workplace investigations for the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead workplace investigations with expertise in harassment, discrimination, and retaliation concerns. Provide investigation best practice consultation and coaching to HR Business Partners and Field HR professionals on workplace investigations and resolving concerns.
Effectively partner with all stakeholder functions, in particular manufacturing, communication, legal and human resources to listen to and address complaints/concerns, employee engagement to support positive employment relationship. Provide guidance to HR Business Partners and Field HR professionals on employee relations issues such as workplace investigations, performance management, workforce planning, drug and alcohol policy, safe workplace, employee separations, medical/religious reasonable accommodations, setting best practice policies and policy administration, including delivering presentations and trainings.
Build strong, collaborative partnerships with ability to influence and lead through partnerships with cross-functional business units and colleagues at all levels, providing trusted consultation, direction, coaching and recommendations for resolution of employee relations matters to Leaders, HR Business Partners, Field HR professionals, other HR COEs, Security, Legal and other stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of SC Johnson’s positive employee relations strategy and provide initiative-taking insight and relevant counsel to senior leaders on all labor and employee relations issues.
Demonstrate solid understanding of company policy, culture and values including federal, state and local labor/employment laws and government compliance requirements.
Manage SC Johnson’s Employee Relations case management system and deliver ER data and insights to support and drive business function consultation and ER COE strategic priorities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree or University Degree is required
5+ years of experience in employee relations, labor relations and/or HR Business Partner role with a focus on conducting investigations
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
10+ years of overall human resources or operational leadership experience with experience working in both a union environment and a non-union environment
Master’s degree in human resources management or labor Relations
Proven ability to take a position on tough business issues, act decisively and assimilate complex matters quickly. Ability to handle high conflict, sensitive high-pressure situations
Demonstrated successful negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to establish a strong leadership presence within the business areas demonstrating the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address sensitive HR issues. Ability to inspire confidence and establish trust, respect, credibility and rapport with executives and employees
Experience in planning, developing and leading change to drive organizational effectiveness. Proven track record in driving organizational culture throughout a global, multi-cultural manufacturing environment
Ability to interact and influence senior leadership
Thorough understanding of state and federal employment law
Experience using data to identify insights and drive action
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Full-time onsite role at Global HQ, Racine, WI
Core collaboration hours are 9 AM - 3PM; flexibility outside these hours to meet a standard 40+ hour work week and evolving business needs
10% travel, depending on business needs
Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees
This role is not eligible for relocation
