ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Social Strategy & Operations is the North America Consumer Brands (NACB) capability owner and accountable decisionmaker for social and is responsible for setting the strategic direction, operating model, standards, priorities, and governance required to deliver effective social marketing across North America Consumer Brands. Operating with significant autonomy, this leader will determine how the NACB social capability operates, including the appropriate balance of internal resources, agency support, technology, processes, and investment across the portfolio. The Manager will lead the development and evolution of NACB social strategy and ensure Paid, Owned and Earned social efforts operate as an integrated marketing capability. This role will work closely with Brand Marketing, Media & Integrated Marketing (MIM), Content & Production, Consumer Insights & Business Analytics (CIBA), Marketing Operations, Public Relations, eCommerce, Procurement, Legal, technology partners, and agencies. The position is foundational to strengthening NACB's social capabilities, improving organizational effectiveness, and enabling more strategic, scalable, and impactful execution across the portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Strategy & Capability Leadership

  • Lead the development and ongoing evolution of the North America Consumer Brands (NACB) social operating model, establishing a cohesive enterprise-wide approach to social that aligns brand activity with consumer behavior, business priorities, and the broader marketing ecosystem.

  • Establish clear social principles, channel roles, operating standards, and best practices to be applied consistently across the NACB portfolio that brands and agency partners are expected to follow.

  • Lead proactive upskilling programs and cross-functional learning forums to accelerate adoption of NACB social standards, tools, and emerging capabilities.

  • Maintain a forward-looking perspective on social platforms, consumer behavior, creator trends, emerging technologies, and industry developments and determine which opportunities NACB should pursue, test, scale, or deprioritize.

Integrated POEM Social Strategy

  • Lead the NACB integrated social framework, working with MIM and relevant cross-functional partners to establish how Paid, Owned and Earned Media (POEM) together across the portfolio.

  • Set portfolio-wide principles governing the respective roles of organic social, paid amplification, creator/influencer content, earned activity, and broader media investment.

  • Determine how content, audiences, and investments should move across Paid, Owned and Earned channels to maximize consumer and business impact.

  • Establish social key performance indicators, learning priorities, and measurement expectations in partnership with CIBA, MIM, agencies, and analytics partners.

Agency Governance, Resourcing & Operations

  • Serve as the accountable business owner for NACB social agency relationships and capabilities, setting expectations for agency performance, resources, outputs, and ways of working.

  • Approve material changes to social agency workflows, roles, staffing models, service levels, and governance within the scope of the NACB social capability.

  • Determine business requirements and priorities for social technology and ensure technology investments support the future-state NACB operating model.

  • Resolve portfolio-level resource conflicts and serve as the final escalation and decision point for social operating matters.

Influencer Strategy & Governance

  • Own the NACB influencer and creator marketing framework, establishing the portfolio-wide strategy, operating principles, and governance for influencer activity.

  • Establish and mandate standards spanning the role of influencer, creator selection, briefing, activation, content development, amplification, measurement, learning, risk management, and governance.

  • Determine where common enterprise approaches should be applied versus where brands require differentiated models.

  • Partner with Brand, PR, MIM, Legal, Procurement, agencies, and other stakeholders while maintaining ownership of the NACB influencer operating framework and standards.

Emotional Intelligence & Interpersonal Leadership

  • Seek input broadly; make decisions independently.  Proven capability to navigate complex matrixed relationships, leveraging active listening and diplomatic persuasion to achieve consensus and align diverse stakeholders.

  • Resilience & Composure: Mentally resilient in high-pressure scenarios, modeling a steady, solution-oriented mindset during platform changes or brand reputation crises.

  • Empathy & Relationship-Building: Exceptional trust-building skills, establishing safe and highly collaborative partnerships with internal brand teams, external agencies, and legal/technology partners

Key Success Measures

  • Operational Efficiency: Reduction in cross-functional friction and time-to-market for social campaign execution across business units.

  • Modernization & Tool Adoption: The speed and success of scaling modernized social technology and operational playbooks across brands.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing, integrated marketing, media, influencer/creator marketing, or related discipline, on the client and/or agency side

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Deep understanding of the social media ecosystem, major social platforms, campaign management software, creator/influencer marketing, and evolving consumer behaviors.

  • Experience developing and implementing social strategies across multiple brands, businesses, or categories.

  • Experience working across multiple components of the social ecosystem, including organic social, paid social, influencer/creator marketing, content, community management, and measurement.

  • Experience developing or managing influencer/creator programs and associated measurement and governance frameworks.

  • Strong digital and social acumen with an ability to translate emerging technology and platform capabilities into business opportunities.

  • Strong understanding of social measurement, KPIs, test-and-learn approaches, and the use of data to inform strategic decisions.

  • Advanced project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, partners, and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Experience managing ambiguity and leading change within a highly matrixed organization.

  • Excellent communication, consulting, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Curious, proactive, collaborative, and action-oriented mindset with a willingness to challenge existing ways of working and drive continuous improvement.
