This role has responsibility for Logistics Operations for the Japan market which covers Warehouse Management and Domestic Transportation. The role delivers excellence in customer service at the lowest cost. They are the owner of the interface with the Logistics Service Provider(s) (LSPs) and SCJ personnel to drive continuous improvement, cost reduction initiatives, meet aggressive budget expectations, and economize/right-size the material handling fleet. This role drives ongoing network distribution modeling efforts to ensure that low operational costs and high service expectations are optimized. The role should be knowledgeable in Lean principles and practices as applicable for warehouse operations and management

SCJ has a regional logistics structure. Even though this role will manage North Asia initially, opportunities for managing regional APAC projects and possibly more countries in future are immense

Develop LSP/3PL partnerships and manage country Logistics performance. Interface of the country business needs to the logistics function.

Service

  • Manage the LSP(s) to meet budget and operational key performance indicators (KPIs), including case cuts due to WH
  • Stakeholder management – Business, International transport team, Inventory team, Finance & Planning
  • Ensure DC(s) are operated in full compliance to all relevant SCJ and country legal standards regarding health and safety, environmental, dangerous goods management, transport, GEN24 and import / export regulations
  • Manage delivery of goods to distributors in Korea.

Develop deep functional and sustainable capability in Operations

Customer

  • Partner with Customer Supply Chain to ensure the business priorities are delivered in Logistics Operations.
  • Provide analysis, insight and predictive measures into Logistics performance and business impact

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

Required skills are those that are absolutely necessary to perform the job and can be objectively measured, such as high school diploma, driver’s license, Bachelor’s degree in “x” field, etc. 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years’ experience in warehouse operations, 3PL Management, Logistics or Supply Chain
  • Strong analytic skills: the ability to powerfully portray data and leverage to drive continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Confident excel user (VLOOKUP, PIVOT, etc.)
  • The ability to build business partnerships and external collaboration opportunities wherever possible

Significant experience with Lean practices and Project Management (Project creation & lead).
