The Associate Manager, Visualization Developer plays a critical role in shaping data-driven decision-making by leading the analysis of complex reporting needs and delivering impactful, standardized global reporting solutions. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement dashboards and reports that address key business challenges. Working primarily within an Enterprise Data Warehouse environment, the Visualization Developer leverages tools like Power BI and Tableau to deliver accurate, insightful, and visually compelling analytics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead collaborative discussions with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements, define use cases, and iterate on dashboard designs with a product-focused mindset.
Partner with product owners and business users to understand business challenges and recommend effective reporting solutions.
Oversee and guide external development resources to ensure deliverables align with SCJ standards and business expectations.
Design and develop engaging, high-impact dashboards and reports that support strategic decision-making across global business functions.
Collaborate with data engineering, governance, and architecture teams to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for performance, scalability, and security.
Educate business partners on available reporting tools and capabilities to promote self-service analytics.
Lead data validation efforts by working with subject matter experts and data engineers to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Define, document, and promote best practices for data visualization and report consumption.
Stay current with emerging technologies and champion the adoption of new reporting tools and strategies within the SCJ ecosystem.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related business field. Relevant military experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
5+ years of hands-on experience with modern Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.
3+ years of experience writing and analyzing SQL for data transformation and manipulation.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Proven experience in data preparation and modeling using tools like Power Query, Alteryx, and/or Tableau Prep.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
Comfortable working independently as well as within a team environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to ask insightful questions that uncover deeper business needs, positioning yourself as a trusted business partner.
Adaptable and skilled in navigating changing priorities, audiences, and business contexts.
Proficient in synthesizing data from multiple sources and visualizing results; experienced in data exploration and storytelling.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable BI and analytics solutions.
Skilled in delivering ad-hoc analysis and presenting findings clearly and effectively to business stakeholders.
Strong understanding of star schema, dimensional modeling techniques, and standardized reporting principles.
Demonstrated ability to analyze business data and solve complex problems through data-driven insights.
